I am struggling with this because my weight has gained again and I don't know why, I am not into these fads about reducing carbs, more fat steady proteins etc etc, my take is to what goes in you mouth is what goes on your waist, so eat less and you should lose weight, I am eating far less than I used to and struggle to eat the calories FS says i should, seems too much food to, so I have reduced to 2000 cals, but still eat less than this, but it is not showing any benefit yet and I'm getting fed up with it and losing patience.

I'm not very active after being diagnosed with a clot in my lung, been put on blood thinners and have to stay away from greens such as kale, broccoli, spinach etc, I get breathless very easy so i'm taking it easy and not trying to do much exercise at the moment because I can't, I don't know what I'm doing different from the first time I joined FS and lost alot and found it easy, don't know whats happening now though.

I feel a bit down at the moment but will try to carry on and hope things change for the better soon....................

Are you the sort of person who would benefit from a diet plan? Smoething that tells you what to buy and when to eat it? Because of your medical condition and the medication you're taking I'd be a fool to advise you on what to eat and how much but if you can work it out with a medical dietitian who has access to your records, that might be the best option for you. They could help you (or even tell you) what to eat and when. Wishing you well, Colin.

Hi Phooka. I have realised I have to incorporate light exercise. the moment I see a 40min workout is the moment I think 'noooo way'. so I've found some light 20min exercise videos on YouTube. https://youtu.be/6_9iWo9UbbY This one is so gentle and doesn't require any jumping around. it can make you sweat a little, and you can feel your muscles have worked out the following day. Good luck

Hi Colin I’m not an expert by any means, but perhaps you’ve cut back too much which is why you’ve stalled. And not sure if this is something your able to do but a LIIT workout may help. 😉

Stick with it mate. If you are eating 2000 calories a day all-in, I reckon it'll start shifting soon. I'm like you, no fancy diets, no excercise, just cutting the calories and it worked a treat for me. Might just be taking your body a bit of getting used to, but there's no doubt you WILL lose weight if you stick to 2000 calories a day. Don't lose the faith fella, you've only been at it a month this time and the alternative is just to give up and stick with where you are right now. Maybe cut the little treats out just for the first few weeks. I went nothing but 3 smoothies a day for the first couple of weeks and it just dropped right off. Maybe try that?

Reducing calories don’t necessarily work for all. Carbs turns into sugar Sugar raises insulin levels You’re body will store fat and not use it no matter how little you eat. My best advice is to eat natural, in other words Meat fowl fish vegetables some healthy fats. Reduce dairy and wheat products. All the best x

But to be fair, calories and carbs aren't entirely different things. It's all about creating a calorie deficit, whether through managing carbs, or calories directly. I personally found it much easier to manage calories as it's less intrusive on a day to day basis, and it's much easier to live with in the long term but saying reducing calories won't work for all is a little disingenuous as that is the most simple equation that explains weight loss. Calorie deficit = weight loss, managing carbs is just another way of managing calories unless I've misread things. Either way, stick with it Colin. And good luck.

But I certainly agree with Gouldilocks, eat natural and healthy, reduce dairy and wheat. Look at how well she's done, the girl is speaking from experience.

Thanks for the advice guys, Iv'e looked at my early weight history when it was working and can see what I did quite quickly was to reduce my RDI, from 2600, then down to 2000, and finally on 1500 cals which seemed to work, I have tried cutting out dairy as much as I can by drinking my coffee black more, I need the milk on cereals (corn flakes) in the mornings, got to try and cut out the bread, have to stay away from greens as a source of vitamin K as that is the antidote for an overdose of warfarin, so smoothies are not an option, I'll try and eat a bit healthier with meat and fish more often, chicken I use in curries so need to cut the pasta and rice down a bit, I will just plod on with a new RDI to start with of 1500 and see what happens, eating between 50 and 70% of rdi when its in the 2000s is no good, better to eat nearly 100% of rdi at 1500 will or should be better.
