Okay, day one. Hopefully this time I wont be yoyoing again. I have started Atkins more times then I have probably tied my shoes and I have never made it past day 3. Am I really that reliant upon carbs? I guess so. Is it this hard for anyone else or am I that week? I don't want to face the answer.

No, its not just you. Feeling crappy during the first bit of Atkins is normal. Sugar triggers pleasure responses in your brain, so you really can become addicted to it. On top of that, your body is dumping all of your carb stores in hopes of waiting you out before transitioning to fat-burning mode. If you stick to low-carb, you'll see a quick weight loss as your kidneys stop retaining extra water and your carb stores empty out and after that, you'll be burning your own fat for energy. Well you just inspired me - maybe i shouldn't add carbs - like lentils- back into my diet. man. i mean, what's so bad about lentils? :) What's a good sub for them, in this soup i'm making, it calls for chuncks of ham, swiss chard, etc. maybe i should put some low carb beans in there instead?

if it makes you feel any better, i'm on day 2 of the induction phase of Atkins. (at least you're not alone in your misery! LOL) I felt so sick yesterday and this morning going thru detox! thankfully, i'm feeling human again right now! I might even crack a smile in a minute! All jokes aside, you can do this! you're probably like me...carb addict!!

It REALLY does get better!!! My day three and four are the toughest. After that, I felt GREAT!!! It helps to remember that you SHOULDN'T ever be hungry during that first week. I ate SOOO much during those first few days, and still dropped weight!!! On the fifth day, my hunger subsided, and so did the cravings. I actually went a little off today and I felt so horrible. By afternoon, I was not even wanting any extra carbs because they made me so miserable this morning!!! Good luck.
