Does anyone have a good method to cook chili in an instant pot? I'm not looking for a recipe but a method. I will be using some fresh pork shoulder not ground meat and an assortment of home cooked beans. So far I've learned that dried beans take much longer to cook in and instant pot compared to a stovetop pressure cooker but handy cause I can start it and let it run and not watch it, have not settled on the timing yet. The mix of beans is currently cooking.

I brown/sear the meat slightly...then throw the entire recipe into a crockpot on medium for 6hrs. Stir and tasting after hr 3! Sorry no instapot advice. Nice to read your posts

Thanks trying to learn about this new gadget. Seems like there are recipes out there but not basics on how to use the dang thing.

Thanks Bill and Judy, I just browned the meat and onions added spices and dumped in 2 big cans of diced tomatoes and put it on the meat/stew option. Decided to add the beans after the cycle is done. No clue what I am doing. LOL . I do know how cook on a stove. This is all new to me. Figured I'd add the beans and bean stock when that is done.

My method is sauté meat then turn off, add EVERYTHING else, then chili setting and done!

Thanks all of you!! I ended up with a hodge podge. I couldn't fit the beans in so am cooking those slow on the stove with the meat, tomatoes etc on the stove. UGG could have been quicker on the stove. Will have to play with this more.

Bill-- yup tis an experiment. My chili tastes good after a stint in a pan on the stove. ;)

I can't help - I don't have an instapot. I usually give mine a good hour on the stove on high heat (when I've added water the second time) then transfer to a crock for another couple of hours - mainly because I don't worry about it burning as I would with it on the stove.
