I give up...I have no idea what it takes to lose weight. I am completely off the rails and losing anyway...I'm not complaining per se. I just wish I knew what to do to lose weight. I need to figure it out so I can do whatever it is that's working. Because I'm so up and down! Who knows???Not this girl!! I have this great spreadsheet that is doing nothing at all to help me because nothing is making any sense. There doesn't seem to be any correlation between the weight loss and what I'm doing! I'm tired and I have another infection and I have to get rid of it before the 1st of March because I will be seeing the surgeon to figure out my surgery date and I can't have an infection if I want to have the surgery! I'm not making good food decisions but the food gods are apparently smiling down on me because I had an almost 3 pound loss. But that doesn't do me any good if I can't duplicate it. I have no idea what I'm doing...none...

Don’t over complicate it... it boils down to calories in vs calories out. Figure out what weight is your goal and adjust accordingly. It’s a lifestyle change that is really needed, not a diet. It takes discipline and consistency. The quick and easy paths are lies. You can do this. But you have to take ownership of it!

after 47 years of searching i have figured it out - google Dr. Eric Berg and watch his short fun youtube videos and then buy The Obesity Code by Dr. Jason Fung - you will then have the answers also.

Take a deep breath and pick a plan - you seem to be having some success, so you have some unconscious understanding! Good luck - I hope your infection clears up!

Don't go buying books...1 pound a week is good enough .Just imagine if you lost one pound/week a year

Stay away from hypotheses. Stick with science. You'll be believing you gained 2 pounds of fat on 500 calories a day if you do. Just do a search for metabolic Ward studies. CICO is always what produces results.

Patience is the hardest part. The time is going to pass whether you quit trying or not, so you might as well keep on making the best possible food choices at every opportunity since that is really the only thing you actually DO have control over. Human body weight fluctuates constantly due to inflammation and even the WEIGHT of the food and liquid in our GI tract. It takes time for light weight calorie dense foods to converted and stored as fat, and it takes time for heavy yet lower calorie foods to be digested.

Simple steps I took I change , my food , my sleep ( sleep more ), exercise routine ( i used to walk , no I walk and run in little springs) believe it or not there are many motivation videos that help in order to change you need to change ! everything even friends (: they influence on how you feel

if it helps, Im in the same boat sorta. I know what to do and what works,, I just need to work at it. My life is hectic and Im an emotional eater. My job sucks and Im insecure and depressed. But I keep showing up everyday.. I say log everything you did last week and try to duplicate your success. What did you do differently? More exercise, less carbs? And start there.

I agree with Redgirl1974. Reduce your carb intake to 20-30 carbs a day to start and log everything in your diary so you can count exactly how many carbs you are eating. Focus on salads, unbreaded meat, and non starchy vegetables. drink lots of water, it makes you feel full. If you can stay with this you will lose on a regular basis. Because of the ups and downs, only weigh once a week because it is too depressing to lose then get on the scale the next day and see a gain.

Literally. DIETS. DONT. WORK. Balanced eating works. Canceling carbs is not good either, y'all. As human species we need carbs to survive. The thing is that there is no use in canceling one specific group of food because our bodies absorb nutrients in combinations of different foods. For example: we can't absorb calcium without fat. That's why low fat milk doesn't work. What helped me was creating a food diary. There, I wrote EVERYTHING to a single gram so like EVERYTHING that got into my mouth. Then you can really see what's happening. The answer to losing weight is balance, exercise, sleep, and.... well... just eating less. But by eating less i mean eating less - responsibly. So we want to avoid crash diets such as ABC diets that allow you to only intake 600 cal per day. I think it is important to understand that we are a species of animals who are fat because of agricultural revolution. We use food as fuel. So you gotta use good quality fuel that will last you longer, but don't intake too much. Its like a car analogy. I hope this was helpful. DONT GIVE UPPPPPPPP.

Katies71, in addition to sensible eating, use Fat Secret to track you food. You will have a permanent record of what you are doing.

In my opinion, if you have a way of seeing the total calories that you burn in a day (like with a smart watch) and you can track your calories that you’ve eaten then you’re all set. Just make sure that your calories eaten are less than your calories burned. It’s a simple math problem. Good luck!

I'm sorry you feel frustrated. the biggest thing for me is separating comfort and emotion for food. treat food like a mechanical part of your day

Hi, and I really hope you feel better soon. I know when I’m sick and/or my back is “out” that things get overwhelming for me. I feel like I can’t control things and I start worrying. Then I second guess myself and then my thinking is spiraling out of control and I feel like I can’t do anything right. In the past (and still sometimes now) I eat carbs and sugar to help me feel better. But then afterward I’d feel even worse. What’s different now is that I have to get my thinking in a better place—and that’s where FS has helped immensely. I go through and read people’s entries and see what they’re doing, and it helps me get out of myself and look at the big picture. So as it’s already been said, getting well is a top priority for your body and mind. I’ll be praying for you and I wish you all the best. 😊🎈
