You have done amazing! Yep, it still ends up being day by day. 😣

@DrSueM, I know what you mean! I was never a "NightStalker [kitchen edition]" until the past year or so. My dog and my bladder wake me up, and then -- BOOOIINNNGG! -- up pops the idea of grabbing a cracker and butter! SHEESH!

AND you've come so far! You know what to do! KEEP IT UP!

I empathize. I'll wake after a couple hours sleep and experience crazy sugar cravings. I'm soothing it with a tablespoon of peanut butter and the rationalization it could be worse.

JUST KEEP GOING!!!! Feelings about my diet , for me , come and go. As long as I keep showing up my attitude clears...and I become renewed...Support here, logging, taking better care...or a drop in weight...turns me around..//Best to you.

Yup! Truckin all day. Good calorie burn work day. Night time? Look out, refrigerator door opens and it’s all over....

@Bella, I read somewhere that it's normal, as we age, to sleep a few hours, wake up, and then sleep some more. Not unusual! The key, for me, is not to turn on the TV or any other "device." I hear the "blue light" from electronic screens keeps the brain stimulated and awake.

Have you considered making a weekly meal plan? I find that when I do this it helps. I can plan meals and snacks that leave a few hundred calories left at the end of the week so if I indulge it’s not so bad. If I notice that I’ve eaten more than planned or had a meal change then I can substitute chicken noodle soup or a sandwich to save some calories up. Just a couple things I’ve found helpful for me and thought I’d share. Best of luck to you!

this is a huge problem for me as well. I don't sleep well and get bored. Fasting isn't for everyone. I can't do it without getting sick to my stomach from my medications. Sometimes I just go in and brush my teeth so I know food won't taste good. I keep cinnamon gum in my nightstand. Stock up on snacks that may not be my first choice but won't break the bank. Pickles, applesauce cups, small portion microwave popcorn, etc.

Oh and I try and make staying asleep more likely. Earplugs and an eye cover. It actually works really well.

The thing about my “night eating” is I eat stuff I don’t even want any other time - stuff that’s full of preservatives and no nutritional value. That’s why I don’t take naps either - I wake up hungry for the old crap I used to live on. Which I’m not hungry for first thing in the morning. It’s 1am and so far so good. I think I’m going to make an appt with sleep clinic. I only sleep 1-3 hrs then I wake up. Annoying. Thanks guys! Night

My nights are like that too!! I'm so sorry! Lol, I think the thing that helps me has been having a low carb treat right in my room. I have to get up and get it which means I won't unless I really want it and it means that I can get it without going to the kitchen!!!

I've been doing the same, well, I eat great during the day, and then not so great with supper and after supper.

@mira - your comment about your dog waking you reminded me of the same here... if Mushy get's me up in the middle of the night to go potty she immediately looks for me in the kitchen when she returns because she's learned that's usually where I've gone. One night I sat on the bed and watched her. She looked so confused I started laughing.

If I mess up its the same for me. Once I eat something bad I turn into a "food" junkie. Its like Im addicted. I try all kinds of tricks to not start eating after dinner..

"It's like I'm addicted." Hey, there IS such a thing as addiction to food! I've been addicted to sweets and chocolate since I was a little girl, with a positively prodigious tolerance for both. I just don't get sick on the stuff. Now ... chablis? It only took a second session hugging the porcelain throne -- the first in 1980, the second in 1982 -- to get me to limit myself to two glasses of wine!
