Doctors have decided that i need to have RAI (radioactive iodine therapy) for my thyroid. I'm not happy about this decision not sure if it is the right one but I guess I will try. if any one has any ideas please let me know.

My friends daughter is probably going to have that too. But the doctor said they will kill her thyroid partially at first. Many times the thyroid will go back to normal again. If that doesn't work, they have to kill it. Millions live a full life without their thyroid. Be proactive and find out what you can.

I have done research and tried support groups but so many are against it. My son had Graves disease and had RAI four years ago. He sill goes thru mood swings so I think we are gonna have them either way. Mine will also be a partial to. What they don't understand is why I'm so hyper but still overweight. I go to UAB medical center and they tell me that 5% of people with Graves will be overweight and I had to be in that 5%.

I had RAI about 8 years ago. It was difficult for a while but like anything, you will get through it. I feel good now. Just some weight to lose otherwise healthy. :)
