I think I'll start out 12:12 and go from there. Tribe that is a great summary.
Thanks

@Miraculum - I don't know much of impact on diabetes. I am so so so happy you are seeing improved health benefits 🤗🤗. That is what matters most no matter what size we are. The only thing I read about IF and diabetes is risk of hypoglycemia. But that is the extent of my knowledge on that to be honest.

I love this quote form that article, Diablo!: "You don’t ever want to give your body excess energy it doesn’t need because it’ll decrease its endogenous energy production. Overconsumption of calories of any kind can lead to disease, obesity, and oxidative stress."

I should add that, after more than 10 years using injectable insulins, I'm very comfortable adjusting my own insulin dosages according to my blood sugar readings and the number of carbohydrates in a particular meal. I test my BS about an hour after i get up in the morning, before meals (now, once or twice a day), and before bed.

Since folks like review articles, perhaps it will find these thought provoking: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2405717 ;

I am not sure if you have access to the full articles. On my work computer, I can see full article. Hopefully, you are able to get more than just the abstract.

Nice quote, Jessa. I hope that lifting is a good reason to have excess calories it needs. Haha. I mean, I'm currently in a deficit but when I get lean enough I'll be moving to at least maintenance and most likely a small surplus.

And don't worry about fasted exercise. I did that for quote a while and made great progress. I recently moved to eating beforehand and then waiting 30 min to an hour and have noticed improved energy but it isn't anything drastic.

@Terrapin...it does require patience. There is often a lot to digest. I also wouldn't recommend relying on abstracts because publishers have word limits on those. So they are succinct as possible. You can often skip the methods and results sections. Read intro and discussion.

I started IF 16/8 but I do 5 hour window instead of 8 hour window and so far in 1 week I lost 5lbs.

There is a lot of nonsense advice out there. 99 percent are just fads ready to be mocked by the next generation. Use your own common sense.
Wish you the best.

@AMT, I've never experienced hypoglycemia (very low BS) with fasting, per se. If a person takes exogenous short-term insulin, as I am, the danger of hypoglycemia generally arises if they overestimate their dosage or overestimate their carb consumption.
