I don't know why I'm having such a hard time getting the keto into my head. I think I'm doing good then journal it and bam...carb city.

Your weight graph is showing down so you are doing something right. No need to be too hard on yourself. What do you think is tripping you up? Are you accidentally eating high carb items or are you deliberately doing it? If it is the first one, it helps to preplan your day the day before or in the morning so that you can plan all your carbs out. If it is the latter maybe you can do low carb rather than keto. Low carb would allow for some more carbs.

Tatauu22, the key to limiting carbs, for me, is to plan my meals at least a day ahead, in writing. If I try just recording what I've already eaten, I'm liable to find that I consumed more grams of carb than I thought or wanted to. Also, I had to start with an allowance of 100g carb (total), which was *much* less than Id eaten in the past. Then, as I planned my meals, I made adjustments to types and quantities of food to limit carbs. In July, I was still hitting a daily average of 77g. [CONTINUED]

By mid July, I realized that I had to change my focus and recommit to my LCHF plan. Now, I'm eating mostly carnivore (beef, pork, eggs, fish, butter) and a few nuts, a very few low-carb vegetables, and no fruit. Since 08/22, almost every day has been under 5g total carbs. Since I'm battling T2 diabetes as well as obesity, this is a great way to reduce my dependence on injected insulin. Best wishes and good luck!

@Liv I think that I don't plan well enough. Doing the day ahead is a great suggestion. @ Mira I love carnivore but I also love veggies. Almost any kind. Maybe it's just a rut. I'll be on the lookout for some new recipes. That might help. Oh and I want Coke zero terribly bad at the moment..lol

Draglist that sounds like a good idea. May try that

The fruit is the most challenging. I will probably get back to keto once the summer is over; something about this season makes me crave veggies more than in the winter. But good advice here. Plan & conserve.

Tatauu22, sounds like the plan-ahead thing would help. I think planning your low-carb vegetables ahead of time will give you a handle on this, NBD.

@Bella, the veggies and fruits are so fresh during these months. I have planned ahead for today. We'll see how that goes. Thanks everyone for the helpful advice

my weight ;loss doctor says the keto diet will mess your liver up bad

It's weird, isn't it? I know it's something mental for me to adjust. There are just as many fruits & veggies in the produce section 'now' as there are in February (for the most part) but there's something about 'ooooh, it's in season' and I want it more. More ironic, I have gone to at least 50% frozen because I can't consume the fresh timely.

I think when I was trying to say in the net 20 I would put fruit at the bottom of the list because it is so darn high in carbs. I'm sure you have answered this elsewhere, but indulge me. What was your reason for going keto? Maybe re-examining that will help reinforce your plan.

Bella, I feel better without all the carbs. The suger, flour, all that gluten. My body responds better without all that. I'm there with can't consume fresh in a timely manner. Maggie, my doctor runs test every three months. We'll see what the next results are.

@maggie64, the clinical experience of practicing physicians who advise their patients to eat keto/carnivore is that it does not harm the liver and, in fact, can *reverse* non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. My own liver function lab values are textbook normal. (Other dietary regimens may support liver health. This is what I "eat by.") REFERENCE - Search YouTube for "Dr. Ken D. Berry liver." Here's one: https://youtu.be/l3qgcMviHtU

Okay. Just a thought - if you're feeling better by cutting out the sugar/flour (basically, processed foods) do you still feel okay eating the fruit/veg/grains? If so, maybe that's your answer?

I try to log before I eat. Then I have a real "ball park" figure of where I am w carbs before I eat. I also learn what works so Later when socializing I gauge what I am eating. 6/7 days a week, I am IT fasting (20 /4 ) or OMAD. Just keep tweaking it! Best to you. Thanks for the post!

Just count your calories (1400 -1500 in a day) you can find out it by your weight. I was before on Keto, and it’s not working without counting Calories. Just eat more protein and veggies - it’s contain less calories then sweets and bread 🥖 and potatoes. Less salty food and less water ( 24 oz in a day is fine).

Thanks everyone. I'm tweaking this WOE so it's for the long run. I do still feel ok eating fruits/vegs and grains to some extent. I'm not a big grain person.

Your ripped tatauu22. If your arms were bigger, you'd look like my son. He just won a Open power lifting comp in Fla. He is now ranked #50 strongest men world wide.

Indeed chrisw77. He said it was one of his lifetime goals. I'm pretty proud of him. He did all of this whole going to med school. He had to keep buying bigger lab coats. His girl is also a power lifter.
