Kinda crazy.. dropped my youngest kiddo off this morning to start her junior year.
Last one still left in high school.... wowza.

I am gonna blink three times and she will be graduating.
My oldest told me last night he submitted his graduation papers for this spring... so I will have one graduating from college in May. I am only 43 frickin' years old! dang it.

and I can't shake the melancholy feelin' of this past weekend being with friends... it was wonderful. For just a couple of days... I wasn't responsible for anyone but myself. It has been a very, very long time since that has been true. I had forgotten what that felt like...in fact... I was never aware of what that felt like. Don't get me wrong. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my kiddos..and will beyond my last breath.... but raising kids on your own dime, time and loss of mind wears you down in places you didn't even know existed. Just some thoughts of the day...

Congrats on all the hard work of transforming them into wonderful, healthy adults who are going places! The right places, that is. :-)

Amen to that thought. Obviously you are doing something great if you have one graduating from college and another one in her junior year of high school. Raising kids on your own is a tough, tough, job. I did it for about 7 years with my oldest daughter and it was no picnic though I love her dearly. Congrats on taking some time for yourself and the great job you are doing raising those kids!

Steve, as parents we are responsible for so much more than bearing a child. There is so much more that goes into raising successful children. You seem to be a very caring, loving, and proud parent. Great job on doing what it takes. Now it's time to think about you. Time to enjoy life and all that it has to offer. You are not just a parent. You are a wonderful man and friend. Congratulations.

Love the new photo-you look great! I'm only 44 and my kids have all grow and moved on but have also provided me with many grand children to fill the sometimes empty void...then I give them back HA HA!

Way to go! U must be so proud as a parent. so many kids r going down the wrong path and they dont listen to us till its to late. my stepdaughter is 20 and still has not started college and my 16 year old is having a hard time and i do not believe he wishes to go to college.

I love my kids to death too, but they certainly make us grow older. I know I am not old yet, but I think 28 without kids would feel younger than 28 with 3 kids. Having to be resposible for 3 little lives makes you feel older but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. My friends who don't have kids yet are going on vacations and have a freedom I barely remember. Just watching them grow and all the cute, sweet, and onnery things they do make my life complete. Now having said that I also can't wait till I get to the stage in my life when I have an empty nest and can do some flying myself. Kuddos on the loss! I think you are a great dad and you are going to be healthy and thin while enjoying those empty nest years!
