So I've been seeing some pretty big losses on this site. It's great that people are being successful on their journeys, but I just wanted to highlight a couple of things. A healthy rate of weight loss is 1-2lbs per week. It may happen more quickly at the start, especially if the person has a lot of weight to lose, but if it slows down that's fine & normal. Rapid weight loss can cause gallstones. Not how I got them, but I'd highly recommend avoiding them where possible! The more slowly weight is lost, the more likely someone is to keep it off once they reach goal. Everyone's journey is unique, but I just wanted to raise these points in case they help anyone along the way. A x

Yup and another benefit of slow weight loss is no loose skin! Mine took me less than a year to lose (4 stones)

Yeah, at the moment I would like to lose 2st by August, but I'll just see how it goes, as long as my general trend is downward!

I had no knowledge about gallstone and that they can be caused by rapid weight loss, until I read your post. I have to agree with you that 1 to 2lbs/week weight loss is a healthy rate, and would be sustainable long term. Large weigh losses over a short time scale are mostly down to water and dehydration. I was once told that if you did not eat after the first week you would lose 0.5 to 0.75lb/day. I don't know if this is correct, as for myself the most I have lost in a week is 1.1 kgs. Another possibility is dodge bathroom scales.
