My adventure in Montana continues. Getting my exercise is a breeze when I have a lovely place like this to walk. The only difficulty is in keeping my pace when I keep stopping to take another picture.

Photo Description:

1) I walk alongside the Clark Canyon Reservoir.

2) The Clark Canyon Reservoir is surrounded by beautiful mountains.

3) This wildflower is called large-bract Verbena (Verbena bracteata).

4) Another picture of the reservoir.

5) One of the many mountains surrounding the reservoir.

6) More of the mountains surrounding the reservoir.

7) A fisherman in the Beaverhead River.

8) This is the second prairie rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis) I've seen this year. Sorry if you hate snakes.

9) This wildflower is called hairy Goldwater (Heterotheca villosa).

10) Here's a callippe fritillary (Speyeria callippe) butterfly on tall hedge mustard (Sisymbrium loeselii).

11) As the sun was setting a distant rainstorm glowed orange.

12) This is a very dark place at night, and the stars fill the sky. I stayed up late last night to star gaze, and was extremely excited when my efforts to get a picture of the Neowise comet were successful. If you haven't seen it yet, see it. It's freaking spectacular!!

Oh no! Sorry again, poulton1 and kincanon1. I thought maybe I shouldn't post the snake picture. So many don't like snakes, but it is such a cool photo, in my opinion, than I couldn't resist. I love that I caught its forked tongue fully extended like that, and how it's raised up prepared to strike. It's kinda fantastic, but I understand how some wouldn't like it. Sorry!

Yes, Erq1! Cool, huh? In fact in my picture you can just make out the second tail on the comet. You may have to adjust the brightness on your device or use a computer, but it's there, although faint. I have another shot that really shows the second tail, but it's less than focused, so I didn't post it. My bedroom window currently faces NW, which is where the comet appears here, so I was able to stare out my window at the comet while I was falling asleep last night. So nice!

I love your photos! I don't care for snakes but I think your photo is marvelous. Thanks for sharing your beautiful location with us.

Your so welcome, shir! I share your appreciation of and respect for snakes. I find them fascinating! I definitely give them plenty of space, and would never intentionally harm one. I'm so glad you enjoyed the photos.

Welcome, terrihoward! I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures! Thank you too, everybody, for enjoying my pictures, and especially for all the comments. Reading your remarks is just one of my favorite things to do. I love all the questions too. Thanks so much for your interest and appreciation! 💗

Awesome! Thank you, kathyscoop! I actually got a lot of excellent photos of that snake. It struck quite a few interesting poses for me while I stood at a safe distance with my telephoto lens. I'll post those on my website a little later today. You'll find them in the "On the Road 2020" set if you'd like to see them.

How cool, Diana! A shooting star whizzed past while I was taking my comet picture. I'm glad you got to see the comet. It's so incredibly fantastic!

I was surprised to see another rattlesnake too, newname. They must have spread the word in the snake world that I'm out immortalizing them in pictures on the internet, so they're lining up now to get their picture made. 💚 🐍

Awesome pictures...can’t believe you got that close to get the snake coiled up and tongue out!

You are a great photographer. Where did you take the shooting star from?

It's refreshing to see non-food focus.

👋ruthe, LOVE Lonnie's photos BUT FS is a weight loss app so I look forward to the healthy n tasty variety of meal posts🤙

I was safely at least 20 feet away, MeWestlake. I used my telephoto lens.

I'm in southwestern Montana, ruthe1213. That's the Neowise comet, not a shooting star.

Thank you, ruthe1213! I tend to focus on the "calories out" part of my weight-loss journey in my posts. I get my exercise out walking in these beautiful places and can't resist sharing what I'm seeing. Like acomandr though, I also appreciate the posts of what people are eating, and I get ideas for my own meals that way. I hope there's room on FatSecret for both types of posts.

Lonnie, I enjoy the photos you share. The weight loss journey encompasses our state of mind as well as food intake & exercise. I would say your sharing of the beauty around you enhances your state of mind as well as seeing them enhances my state of mind. We are so much more than just what we eat.

Thank you, SherryeB! That's an awesome statement! I love it! One's state of mind may be the most important thing, because it effects every other thing about them. 💗

Lonnie, you are making those snakies famous and I love it! 😂🥰 I am probably the minority (based on the comments), but I love snakes! I think they’re beautiful and fascinating. With that said, I don’t think I’d ever be brave enough to approach one to take a photo like you do! 🙌🏻💖

Thank you, newname! Trust me! I'm not that brave. I gave that snake plenty of room. My momma didn't raise no fool. I was well outside of its striking range, and they don't really move very fast.

Hilarious! However it happened, Erq1, I'm so glad you got to see the comet. It's certainly an awesome, special sight to see. Everyone should see it!
