shin splints suck. i deal with them as well, but i run through them. best way to get rid of them is to make sure you have new shoes. moreover, make sure those shoes are proper for your arch. if you are having problems still cut your walking or running speed in half. then increase it incrementally once again. if you do run or walk, immediately ice the area after walking or running. also, when needed a non steroidal anti-inflammatory works well. simple things like advil, or aleve. other pain killers will do nothing, such as vicodin. keep it up and dont stop moving. oh also, one other thing that can help as well. eat spicy foods. capcasin (what makes things spicy) has been noted as a vaso-dilator, and pain killer. so not only will it open your arteries to allow for an easier run or walk, but it will help kill the pain associated.

Thanks for the tips. I have decent shoes...about 100 miles on the pair I am using now. I started to diversify my cardio a bit. The past two days I have run slower and not near as far but I added an elliptical trainer so the impact is eliminated. Ill try the alleve and it's funny...I never even knew about the vaso dialtor and pain killing properties of capcasin. Thanks!!
