I've been missing for the past few days as I set up my new laptop. I'm now using a fancy new MacBook Pro which is replacing the MacBook I've used since 2006. It's so nice to have a machine that doesn't need 30 second to think about everything you ask it to do.
The diet had been going extremely well through Friday, but yesterday was a national holiday and too much laying around led me to eat substantially more than I had planned. Tonight we took our older son out to a restaurant to celebrate his 27th birthday. I have no idea how many calories the meal entailed, but I don't think I overdid it too badly. I guess we'll see when I weigh in tomorrow.

New computers are such a joy but loading them is tiresome. I got an identical netbook to the one I have except it has more memory. I used a Windows Easy Transfer cable that moved everything from old to new except a few programmes. Playing with them is really time consuming but fascinating. I weigh in tomorrow morning too and already I feel fatter. I should have eaten diuretic foods today but I ended up eating a lot of salt. With my luck the scales will be up 2 pounds ...all water. There goes my pessimist side. Where did I read that a glass is 1/2 full of water and 1/2 full of air so technically the glass is always full. Good luck with weigh in.

Transferring the data from the old computer to the new one took a long time, but it was painless. What took more effort was updating the software. I was using a lot of old software on the previous laptop, so I had to track down the installers for new versions on my desktop machine and install each one individually. Now that it's up and running, I'm really enjoying the speed. The scale can be absolutely the worst thing for a diet. I was considering not weighing in at all this time, but curiosity got the better of me. I'm just trying to remind myself that the short-term, weekly goals aren't the ones that are important. I know the program works if I keep to it, so I'm eventually going to get to my goal even if the scale refuses to move for awhile. Happily, it did click down another pound this week, so I'm golden.
