Well,I made it. Hung out with friends at the bar for a few hours. Bought the birthday girl a drink and I drank water. I slipped off to the bathroom when they brought out the cake. I didn't want any pressure to eat cake. I dislike cake but I know my friends and they would have insisted on it. It was awkward for them. They all seemed surprised that I wasn't drinking. My response was I'm driving. Everyone kept asking if I was okay, and I was. I was tired since I woke early in the morning and didn't arrive until midnight. Then someone checked on me to make sure I was okay enough to drive. Those 3 glasses of water I had sure made me tipsy! Though it was nice that I have friends who were looking out for me. But it did make me realize how much I drink/drank before now. When everyone you know is shocked that you don't order your standard beer and then someone (who didn't know I was drinking water) makes sure I have a safe way home, it's disheartening. When did this happen? Perhaps overnight? Perhaps not. I guess the stress of having 2 disabled children was worse than I thought. Oh well, I made it through my day without going over my calorie count and keeping my will power in check. Here's hoping I can do it again tomorrow.

It's all the small steps you take during the day that will pay off big for you. Trying to win the whole war on a daily basis is impossible. It's the daily battles, sometimes moment to moment that will grant us victory in the end. Each challenge presented is a chance for small successes, and that feels when it happens.
