Omgosh! I had no idea how many carbs bananas are loaded with! I thought for sure eating one of those was a far better choice than eating a cookie. I wonder how hard I'm going to have to work all of that off!

Bananas are still better than cookies even with the carbs it holds. Don't forget there is a lot more to a banana than just its carbs. And they are natural which cookies aren't.

Yeah, I know. I am still working out this 'healthy diet' thing. I'm so used to overloading on carbs that I would really like to cut down. Yes, I'm a bassist. Haven't played out since pregnancy, but once upon a time...

Muscles are fueled primarily on carbs when you workout, so banana's are one of the best sources of fast acting high glycemic carbs around. They also contain potassium and other nutrients. They are great for after a workout. Much better than a cookie, lol! But google low glycemic fruits to see which on lower on the carb/glycemic scale.

As well as a very good source of potassium, they contain vitamin B6, vitamin C. They are one of the favourite fruits for athletes as they quickly replace electrolytes... They also contain calcium, which is good for strong bones. A banana mixed with low fat yoghurt and protein powder is a great post workout mix - just wizz it in a blender.

I eat bananas even on a lower carb diet especially whenI have been doing heavy cardio. Such as snowshoeing, cross country skiing. Hey, It sure is better than a snickers bar or a bag of chips. As skinny pointed out chock full of good stuff. I don't think twice about eating one for breakfast a couple times per week. With greek yogurt!
