Hi - I use a protein powder called USN Complete protein (I have the chocolate flavour one haven't tried any others) worth the price from Home Bargains (£15 for a 900g container) and each serving (2 scoops) consists of 35g of protein and is approx 194 calories (I drink with water - you can have with milk if the taste isn't to your liking but remember to add the extra calories) I don't rely on the protein powders as meal replacement or everyday as I prefer to get the protein in through my meals/snacks but generally if I do a full body strength workout (usually once a week) feel like I need the added protein 😅

My first tip is to buy online, way cheaper than supermarkets, health food shops etc. If weight loss is your goal definitely look for a low carb option, be careful because some protein powders are packed with carbs and creatine for people looking to gain size. Pure whey protein powders are usually a safe bet. Whey protein powders usually come in around 110 Cals per serve. Lots of options so best to try a few to find one you like the taste of.

Thanks guys very helpful info. So far I've found good standard isolate with 110 calories per scoop and 1g carbs. Or I'll go for vital proteins collagen peptides with 70 calories no cards per 2 scoops.

Myself I've read a lot of confusing and misleading info about those proteins, mainly because of the marketing around it. The two main proteins on the market are called Whey and Iso, and they are actually the same thing, except that Iso had more filtering of lactose and therefore has less carbs. Like our friend down below said, Whey is usually mixed with carbs and other stuff. There are also vegan mixes that come with "Greens" to increase your intake of micronutrients - however, I find them expensive and would privilege fresh produce in meals instead. Other than that, there may be other types of powdered proteins on the market, but I don't know about them. There may also be protein mixes that are more adequate for women's metabolism, I would try to find that out. What is recommended for *certain exercises* also is to use BCAAs to facilitate muscle repair and recovery overall, as a complement to all other proteins that you consume daily (generally you take these right before and after exercise). I heard some people say that it reduces sore after exercise, but it may be placebo effect. These are also expensive. You can check if that applies to you.

So I’ve bought the bulk diet whey protein. Which is 110 cal per scoop and aids to weight loss and muscle repair. I use it as a meal replacement for my breakfast straight after working out in the morning - I’m trying out drinking it 3 x a week to see how it goes.
