Why is it, that as soon as the end is near, my mind goes “ f*** it, eat what you want, who cares”.
I am that close to my goal it will literally take 1 week of 1300 calories, but for the past 10 days I have eaten things, I would never dream of eating, ie: 2 packs of crisps for lunch, a chocolate bar after a pudding, eating a second lunch and the worst, a veggie burger, chips and milkshake from BK, which I didn’t enjoy and suffered from for about 5 hours !!!!

I think it's all psychological really... you're thinking "I'm so close to my goal I can do it" whilst your brain is saying "oh yes very close to my goal let's eat something bad!" I'm the same, I had some skittles last night, couldn't help myself and felt so bad afterwards! WE CAN DO THIS

#tinamconville1969 everyone is different and some diets might work for others and not you. Unfortunately I think that it's all down to trial and error. From my experience, it's trying to find the right balance that means you feel full so don't have to snack and having a little bit of what you like so you don't crave anything. My example is chocolate, I'm a chocolate fan and it's one of my big downfalls (that and sweets!!!lol) so when I'm craving chocolate I eat a Muller light chocolate fix (95 cal) and drink green tea... If you're starving yourself and all you do is think about what you can't have then I don't think it's a healthy diet (but that's my opinion). Hope this helps a little bit 😉

Hi. I’d just like to let you know this happens because you are restricting your calorie intake far too much. 1300/day is how much a toddler should be eating. When you eat too little you binge because your body is crying out for food. I have anorexia nervosa and I used to have days where I would binge and it can be extremely hard to get back on track and it takes a lot of determination to break your binge cycle. You should eat the amount of calories you need in order to keep a fast metabolism

If you eat too little and go beyond hungry your subconscious mind will have a greater say and demand that you eat more. The impulse is very primative. In order to stop this from happening learn to listen to your body and remain fully conscious. You are hungry so eat enough to satisfy your subconscious (inner chimp). If you don't have a decent conscious strategy your subconscious will have a greater say.

The mind relaxes as you think you almost there, its trying to keep focused and run through the finish line x

It’s a REALLY interesting question. There is definitely a pull to self-sabotage in all sorts of things just when things are going well. I put it down to fear, though of what I don’t know. Definitely don’t think it is hunger or will power related.

Thanks all, definitely not about calorie restriction as I eat 1400 - 1500, 1300 is what I would need to eat to drop the last 2lbs, but psychologically I am definitely sabotaging 🙄, I did have one thought 💭, we put so much emphasis on that magic number, does our mind know that nothing magical is going to happen or change when we hit it so it helps us keep it just out of reach 🤷‍♀️

@tinamconville , first thing I did was stop drinking any alcohol, soda, squash and all sugar, I did that for 2 months and lost a stone, I then dropped my food calories a bit so I could add things back in. Now as per post I can’t stop adding!.

Just reading through this thread and I agree with the different answers.. just before my goal I gained a couple of lbs and just again after. I think it was because of my mentality. Refined sugar is so addictive and it’s hard to avoid. I still want the chocolate bars sometimes but I’ll make something from scratch instead, just to see if the craving goes by then. If it does I’ve got some gifts for the family 😄 there’s a great raw version of a millionaires shortbread i posted a while back if anyone wants the recipe. I can also message it to you. Laylaelomar your experience sounds extremely difficult, thank you for sharing a little about it. I can’t add you but if you ever want to send me a message my dm is always open

You should work towards finding a sustainable diet you enjoy eating otherwise after your weight loss goal you'll just pile it all back on again when you go back to "normal"

This is so annoying.. after a full day of no food.. I start craving things I don’t even have in my fridge. I remember baking Keto bread at 3am.. It’s all emotions I guess.. doing better this week hopefully.

That’s how I feel whenever I try keto. I ended up getting everything back plus some more pounds. Now I’m doing a regular diet, watching my macros (I can eat 200 carbs a day!!!) and my calories intake. It’s working slow (lost 9kilos or 19 pounds since November) but feels like I can keep going for long ride :) Yesterday I ended up with a full spoon of Nutella, and that’s okay... I could still make it up with my other meals.... maybe you need something like this. I have a couch, we talk every week for 30 min and he helps me to look what is wrong, what’s is right. I pay £89 monthly and my diet was specifically for me. If you want I could send you his contact...
