Omg ..... made some flourless brownies. I ate some today. I am shocked about the carbs ...... almost a whole day's worth ....... I need to get rid of it. I went over my carbs by a lot today and it probably kicked me out of ketosis. Not worth it! Back to reality tomorrow with my protein and fat.

What did you use that had so many carbs?

Dboza: I used 1 cup of butter, 1 cup pecans, 2 1/4 cup semi-sweet choc chips (50% cocoa ....I think this is where the bulk of the carbs were), 4 eggs. I was so shocked at the amount of carbs even though it's considered low carb. I will check the whole thing to make sure I didn't miscalculate..... :(

Yes Jenn, I think the chips did it. Look for a different recipe. I love brownies and fudge. Haven't made any for a while, but there are some LC ones out there.

I am definitely going to do that. I won't use that recipe again.

I will have to look for my Paleo brownie recipe. I am thinking it was 5 or 6 net carbs. I will post it if I find it. Delicious brownies, too.

I second the motion on paleo/low-carb version. Can be done but portion control is still important. I stopped making low-carb brownies (wasn't very often anyway)--my recs for sweet tooth stuff is sugar-free pudding, or even better, jello. Also, Werther's sugar-free is made w/butter so it's super rich tasting and the butter makes it taste like the sugar version. Or lindt 70 or 85% chocolate in the morning (max 2 squares). The choc gives me a nice kick and both versions are relatively low carb.

I just double checked my recipe. Ooops. 10 carbs per brownie if using Erythitol for sweetener and 8.5 if using Splenda. My recipe is delish and all good stuff. Ha Ha! 177 calories, 15g fat, 6 protein, net carbs 10 if using the erythitol.

Catolita: so true about portion control. I think I will get my sweet fix otherwise. I've stocked up on Lindt too ... it will be my go to in a pinch.

Mom.... I think yours are lower than mine. I used Splenda in mine.

Jenn, check out the Miracle brownie recipe @ about.com. It is really low carb. The recipe is a little confusing, but I read the reviews and there are some suggestions that when I try these I'll use. She claims the nutrition is: Each of 32 brownies has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 3 grams of fiber, 3 grams of protein, 10 grams of fat, and 107 calories... I will eventually try putting the recipe in our cook book and see what FS says. I don't have the erythritol so that may change carbs.

I am going to check it out. NI can buy erythritol if needs be Thanks Dboza!

Dboza what size pan is that. Sometimes they tell you to cut up those brownies in bite size pieces to get the low carb count. I want a nice sized brownie and a good tasting one, too. Jenn let me know if you want to try my Paleo recipe and you can use the Splenda. LOL!

Good one mom ...... I agree with you. Bite size won't cut it. Yes, I would like to try it. I am trying to get the whole family eating healthier treats so they will be my test case for the brownies.

Mom, she doesn't say what size pan. I'll have to investigate it further. I like large brownies, too. I can't imagine it would be smaller than a 9X12, but don't know for sure. Maybe I'll get it done tomorrow. Did you look at the site? (about. com) Even doubling the size would make the carbs around 2-3... Not too bad if they taste good.
