I'm on the move! I'm in Arizona now, slowly making my way north. When on the move it is sometimes a challenge to find a place to do my walks, but so far it's been easy. I've been able to use trails near the campsites we've had. I have some photos to share.

Photo Captions:

1 & 2) In Yuma a couple desert iguanas (Dipsosaurus dorsalis) came by our campsite. They're really shy and will run if you approach them. I had to get my camera with a zoom lens to get these shots.

3) This is a close up of the bloom on an ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens). Usually the blooms are too high to get a picture, but while on my walk I found this one that I could reach.

4 & 5) Our campsite in Yuma was also visited by a couple prairie dogs (Xerospermophilus tereticaudus). They were even more skittish than the iguanas. I had to take these pictures through the camper window, because they would take off as soon as I went outside.

6) Yesterday we moved to Quartzsite, Arizona and got this nice campsite that already has a fire pit. We may have to build a fire before we leave.

7) Last evening I took a walk at sunset and got this shot of the sunset with saguaros (Carnegiea gigantea) in the foreground. I love desert sunsets! A saguaro has to be at least 75 years old before it will start growing arms. Some never grow arms. A saguaro cactus with no arms is called a spear.
