Doing really well today. Down 4 lbs, and almost decided to get a burger for lunch to 'celebrate'. Really wanting some red meat... but I didn't. The other half's turn to cook tonight, and I'm hoping we have a burger. I mixed some beef and turkery burger together, so I'm hoping we go that way for dinner. I'm determined to stick with this, but sometimes I just want something. A piece of loaded pizza or a burger or something. I can do this, I just need to stick with it, and save that kind of stuff for much later.
I have my little sister's wedding shower this weekend. Hopefully I can behave during that too. SIGH. I've already planned that her wedding day is a day off.
I can do this!! I will lose weight!!

enjoy a burger now and then--just eliminate the bun!! Make a crustless pizza or put a pizza on a low carb tortilla shell or a piece of flat bread--just crisp them a little first. You can have the foods you love if you make some adjustments and deal with moderation!! Be creative, you will stick to this ever so much longer if you do.

sometimes I will eat less over a couple days to enjoy a treat on the weekends. I just eat healthy before having the treat so that I can indulge in moderation.

I want a burger every once in a while to "celebrate" too. So far, I have resisted the temptation also. It's nice to know that I am not the only one who still likes a little red meat though. :-)

try cauliflower pizza crust with itallian turky sausage and veggies, fat free itallian blend cheese. good for you and satisfies the NEED

LOVE,LOVE,LOVE that you keep saying "I can do this." because we live up to the expectations that we set for ourselves. Granted, it may not "happen" *when* we desire it to but as long as you keep telling yourself YOU CAN DO THIS,you will.No doubt about it. ACTION(you doing it) follows THOUGHT(I can do this!) :D I also am one of those who just "want something" & guess what!? We can,just make it a "Better Burger" by using lean red meat or ground turkey or a mixture of both. Either way you get your "fix" AND it's a healthier choice. Add some flavorful seasonings(your post sounds like you know your way around the kitchen) & you wont even notice that it isn't the FULL FAT STUFF. :D We just had TACOS last night & they were so good they didn't even need the sour cream that I usually put on them! The BEST part was that I *still* didn't reach my RDI of calories-I *could* have more! (but I didn't,I was satisfied :D ) I do agree with the other commenters about eating a little something before you go. For me it serves as a reminder that I AM DOING this. When I get there I visit with friends who are* furthest away* from the food table.Helps me keep from snacking out of habit or because another is. I Keep my *eyes off* the taste-bud tempters. Out of sight/Out of mind/Out of mouth! If the conversation turns to food topics,I talk about my goals & the progress I'm making in reaching them. Helps me keep determined in my efforts PLUS when others know what we are doing it can help us be accountable. Then when I do eat something, I dont eat *near* the food. I grab a plate,look over ALL the food to decide what I REALLY want to spend my calories on,then take 1 serving of *whatever I want* without heaping food on top of food. I allow myself just this 1 plate so dessert (if I want it) is included on THIS plate. There are NO 2nds except I do limit myself to 2-3 beverages,depending on the amount of time I am there. Hope you can use some of these tips if you feel/see the need . :D Have a blast!

I had a burger yesterday. Rather than tell myself no, I eat a smaller burger with no fries or soda. As long as I budget those calories into my day I've been able to enjoy and continue to lose weight. Also, Turkey Burgers are good and if I put it in a thin wheat round bread (only 100 calories for the bread) I can enjoy it that way too. It isn't having to give things up but rather change the way to approach the meal!

Thank you myawethingTICself!!!! I do know my way around my kitchen. Dad taught me most of what I know, and I KNOW that any recipe that I cook (I don't bake) I can tweek however I want it. We had a taco caserol the other day that I found on here, turkey taco caserol or something like that. I would have prefered more cheese (one of my downfalls) but it was still really tastey. The kids liked it too. :-D Thank you for all the support! One of the reasons I really like this site!!

you can eat a burger a couple of times a week if you make it at home from quality ingredients. I use lean beef and whole grain buns from the health food store. use mustard and avoid sugary condiments like ketchup and BBQ sauce. There is nothing wrong with eating beef in moderation provided that you are eating enough fiber and veggies. meat should not be the center of the meal, it should really be a side.
