Woo-hoo!!! Got my first Pfizer vaccine yesterday after a 5 week wait for an appointment and felt pretty good afterwards, so I went for an invigorating (big hills) 3 mile walk last night and then cooked up a late spaghetti dinner. Conked out around 2 a.m., woke up 5 hours later. (normal for me). Only side effect is sore arm at the needle site, which doesn't really count because any shot can do that.

Recovery area nurse told me the only people complaining about the fatigue, headaches and nausea are the ones who were sick to begin with (obese, diabetic, suffering from heart disease and the like). She said that ironically, the healthy elderly (65+) usually had no side effects from the vaccine.

I know it takes 2 weeks for any bit of immunity to build, but I just felt mentally way better right afterwards. Three weeks till my second shot; will be so relieved to get this over with!

I finally got my first shot the end of April and didn't even have a sore arm at the needle site--kind of worried that it was a placebo. I am scheduled for my second shot next week. My hubby has had both and except for the "normal" shot soreness, NOTHING! I am hoping the same for me. The two weeks for immunity to build is just before Memorial Day weekend. I am looking forward to having another couple, who have been fully vaccinated for over a month at the house for BBQ.

@Shrewd: the wait list is unbelievable in CA; it boggles my mind that other states have practically no lines! @LIS: yeah, side effects aside, it's more important to protect our health/life. @Melty: hopefully you're scheduled already. The process is super quick, unlike regular doctor's visits! @Brandy: I've heard the rumors about that 2nd shot, and will be prepared. @Katherine: which manufacturer did you get? I've heard more horror stories about Moderna than Pfizer. And I won't make immunity by Memorial Day, I will be fine before July 4th. Either way, Thanksgiving & Christmas should be back to normal this year -- HOORAY!

Sounds like its going to work out just fine. I already took both of mine. Most people I know had gotten sick after their second shot, I turned out fine. I only had headaches and I was tired all the time.

Almost there! Still eating six mangoes a day?

Chevre, not 6 now; I'm down to 2 for breakfast on some days, then on to a different fruit for lunch or sometimes some greens. The first 10 days (cleanse) of all fruit was crazy but very effective. It's a good thing, too, because I was craving pasta by the end.

I might have a week where it's lean protein, fruit and non-starchy veg ad libitum because I must say I love the idea of eating as much fruit as I want.
