Attention FS Mexican foodies and air fryer experts, you know who you are! I want to get your ideas.
I got it into my head that I want to try making chile rellenos. I bought 3 poblano peppers and white Mexican cheese mix, plus I have some cotija. My questions are:
1) Can I just char the peppers on the gas stove whole and then scrape off the skin? Should I take out the stems and seeds before charring or after?
2) Do I just stuff with cheese, or could I add other stuff, like rice, beans, lentils, mushrooms? If so, would I cook in some kind of sauce, like with regular American stuffed bell peppers? Trying to make them lighter and more nutritious. Also, I have some powdered chia I keep trying to use, so I might sneak some in there too.
3) I plan to dredge in AP flour, egg, panko (and serve with yummy homemade enchilada sauce). Can I air fry or bake?
Thanks to anyone who wants to offer suggestions and educate me!
