Beautiful roses from a beautiful woman 🌹🌹

Thanks you do much everyone for enjoying my roses with me. I decided to take pictures this morning while I was watering. My bushes are happy, but the blooms are going to not last through the heat very well. The buds are opening at a great rate, but the flowers are only lasting half as long as they should and many are tinged with a bit of brown. I do so love my roses, and yes it is a very fragrant yard! The reds and an orange (not shown) don't have any scent and some of my bushes with pink flowers don't have much fragrance. The bright yellow and purple and brightest pink fill a room when they are cut. Anyway, as Chris said, it is so hot for roses. Over 100 again today, which is very hot for Seattle area. Stay cool!

What state do you live in? I tried so hard to grow roses but blackspot took over no matter how much I sprayed them. I live in a hot humid climate. Nobody else around here grows good roses.

JosieSchmosie, we are in western Washington. I too battle black spot and also powdery mildew. It is terrible here and very few people manage to have healthy bushes. It is a ton of work. I have found ways to fight it with the different sprays I use and concoct. I also remove all leaves from the inside of my bushes and the lower about 18 inches. I remove all the mulch around the bushes and replace the top abojt four inches in the spring after my late winter pruning. I really is a stupid hobby! I met somone a couple weeks ago who has about 60 bushes. I was shocked because I know the work it takes to keep 14 healthy. Then she told me the the president of the Seattle rose society was her gardener. Not fair!!! Anyway, that is my story! I love them and I hate them too! 😁

I'm in the process of building out a yellow rose garden. Do you happen to know the type of yellow roses you have shown? Well done by the way. I battle blackspot on the east coast as well but finally found a spray maintenance program.

Tartiartic1, sadly, I'm afraid I am no help. I do have two yellow rose bushes, but I don't know the names. I obtained most of my roses over the years from an old guy at a farmers market. They are either unlabled or I don't remember the names he told me. I'm rather pathetic that way. One of mine is a true lemon yell that does not fade at all as the blooms age. It has a super strong classic rose smell. The other... The first pictured in this group is a super healthy, hardy bush that has more of a peachy yellow color. In the spring the flowers look are darker and as the summer gets warmer the flowers are lighter. It has the most glorious honey warm scent. Anyway, good luck on your garden! Please post pictures! 😁 ❤️ ❤️

Well Melissa, working to keep your roses healthy helps keep you healthy too. And all that beauty is good for your soul and for our souls also. So, keep growing them and keep sharing them, please ma'am. Also, take care of yourself in this extremely hot weather. I remember too well what summers were like in the days before we had air conditioning. 💛

Beautiful Roses

It is so hot, Shir. Thankfully the nights get cooler, but our home is so warm that the heat is accumulated and getting warmer each day. We have a single room air conditioner, so all seven of us can be in there to cool down a bit when needed. It was a stable 85 in there much of the day. Even the carpet and walls are hot to the touch at 100 degrees everywhere else. It is supposed to get to 109 tomorrow where we are and then start to cool. I actually love warm weather and 90 is fine, but this is a bit much. For the majority of the world that lives in horrific heat and they have no access to a way to cool themselves.... I feel so sorry for them and saddened that it is just getting worse and worse for them.

And thank you, Shir, for always encouraging me to post my flower pictures. You are a main reason I do so!!! ❤️ Thank you for sharing your beautiful soul with us. I am so happy to share my roses with you!

Your roses are just gorgeous! I suppose the heat wave will discourage them.

There are so many!

I'm going to have to figure out how to do that. It looks like I can only do one at a time.
