Really wanted a big ride today but couldn't get away till 2:30. It's 91 degrees, real feel 102, heat advisory. Settled for 22 in halves of 11 each with a half hour in AC and about 60 oz of liquid in between. Oh, and a cookie. Make it (or in this case, buy it), log it, eat it, and pedal it.

My hips knees and ankles are very messed up. They don't call it morbid obesity for nothin'. My walking gate is an awkward, asynchronous shuffle that tops out at almost but not quite 3 mph. I'm not much of a walker but I do it. But there's both freedom and redemption in my bike. When I hop on and pedal away I feel like a seal leaving the beach to cavort gracefully and powerfully beneath the waves.

That’s what I love about biking. Freedom. Especially in the morning, the air is crisp and the way the night sound and morning sound blend… ecstatic.

I used to b an bggcyclist. love the freedom, the grit and of course, the scenery. have a rod in my back and cant do an upright bike any more. I'm relegated to the recumbent bike...lol. but I've had so many good rides that sometimes I just imagine I'm cycling that mountain road and it takes me away from my current physical situation. so, my friend, ride. ride like the wind! I'll keep looking for your posts and live vicariously ( if u don't mind)

Marpingo, I'll do what I can. Was able to get out again today for another 22 miles. Back to back days with calorie burns greater than 4500 (per my generous Fitbit) with intake just under my 1200 limit. Trying to cycle to my weight goal. My quads are swollen and a bit sore. No ride tomorrow. A chance to let the lactic acid dissipate. Strong headwinds on the way out today. But those were a glorious tail wind on the way home. I was channelling @Tim Vail for short stretches at 18 to 19 mph!
