This morning I tried my now routine 11 mile walk/jog trying to keep my Heart Rate(HR) under 120 BPM and this time it went a little better. Aside from the first 2KM I didn't have to walk at all to keep my HR down and I was able to jog for over 9.5 hilly miles. I managed the whole exercise in 2H18m

The first 25 minutes it is usual for my HR to bounce around as I was walk during my warm up It appears that my old heart takes a really long time to warm up - Not sure if it's actually my HR or the optical monitor on my watch not recording well - So I have ordered a chest fit type monitor that works electrically rather than optically. If you trust the internet this chest fit electric type of HRM is meant to be more fast reading and accurate than optical ones. Ideally for my Heart rate based training to be effective I need to complete at least 10X more minutes fat burning than I do aerobic minutes - I'm getting better at getting that ratio high but even walking very slowly for the first 15 minutes it's not easy keeping the HR below my limit.

Garden wise a colder snap overnight and the christmas potatoes have taken a bit of a beating - Now they are in the greenhouse along with our lemongrass. The runner beans and courgettes are having a bumper year and it is mandatory to have some every day. I will be putting in some garlic bulbs in the ground later.

Lunch today is a decent sized fry up - I can hear it sizzling in the background as I type. Given my 1200 calorie jog this morning I have plenty of latitude for luxury eating today.
