Mindful eating!

I am trying to think before I eat. I am asking myself if I am physically Hungry? Or am I bored? Or thirsty? Or do I just have a craving? Am I sad? Worried ? Does my tummy feel full? Do I really need nutrition? Am I really hungry?

I am also trying to eat slower. I am trying to chew my food and concentrate on just that.. This is hard. I’ve heard that it takes 20 minutes for the brain to know your stomach is full so I am attempting to eat slower so recognize that I no longer need to eat.

Holidays are hard. But I need to loose a pound a week to stay on track.

It IS hard to be mindful of what is driving our hunger. In addition to eating slowly, I try to focus on a task, usually cleaning the kitchen, immediately after each meal. By the time I have completed my task my hunger sensations are significantly reduced. Sometimes I just take a brief stroll in the yard immediately after a meal, anything to occupy my mind and body for a bit till my brain figures out that I just ate.

That is all good advice. I have made a point of only eating while seated at the table - and if I am cooking - I use a slice of apple and eat that instead of constantly tasting things while I am cooking.

Head hunger is my biggest challenge! I WANT to eat but do not NEED to eat so much of the time!

Mine is a different approach - full 4 cups (67 kcal) of vegetable broth. Hunger be gone, brain is quiet.
