I'm trying to cut down on animal products in my diet, so my sweet husband made me cheeseless pizza for dinner last night after we got back from skiing. Finishing it off for lunch

You did better than me. I broke down and eat the pizza at my ski resort. You know there is dairy free cheese. Its not bad though I dont know how well it melts.

Nothing wrong with regular pizza! I know there are cheese substitutes, but I try to avoid processed foods, and they're a little too processed for my tastes. My brother buys them, though, and he really likes them. He hasn't mentioned how well they melt

I have a recipe for canned chicken breast crust pizza...made it the other day and it was delicious with no carbs! I used turkey pepperoni and mushrooms for my topping with sauce and mozz cheese. Let me know if you or anyone wants recipe!

melhope -- sounds like a great option for the low carbers! I'm a mostly plant-based gal myself, and a big bread eater, but it seems to be working for me. Christopher Gardner, a Stanford researcher, did a big study on low carb vs low fat diets, and found there wasn't any difference in results-- and that there were people who lost considerably and people who gained considerably on both. Really depends on what works for the individual. I hope your strategy is working for you, and I bet there are folks who would love that recipe! 😃

I think my husband would concur, DJ, except for the box. He likes to make his own. I prefer it too -- he uses whole grain for part of the crust and usually a lot of veggies 😋

How was it? Did it fill the gap for pizza?

YetAnother -- glad you liked it! It was pretty tasty. Hard to go wrong with mushrooms and olives

passinbyyou -- were you asking me regarding cheeseless, or melhope on the chicken crust? It definitely filled my desire for pizza, and I felt physically better afterward not eating the cheese

I agree I do prefer the real cheese. Nothing beats that creaminess!
