'I need you so much closer' - Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism
Today I realize that it's going to take some serious work to get to Expert. It will take me 7 years, full-time, and no rest for 8 hours each day. Hard work is what it will take. It'll be good. I will be going to tournaments on Saturdays to see my progress. I have been thinking over stuff, as Dan Heisman has put a chess plan out.
Work work work. It is going to be hard, because I've tried it before, but this time I am committed to getting better. There is no Utah Open next year (I checked the Utah Chess Association Calendar), and it hasn't been scheduled for a while.
It seems like chess is dying here in Utah, and that is sad. It baffles me when I see a ton of people at the Utah Open one year, but with every passing year, there is a change in the crowd, it gets less and less.
Sadness is permeating all over the chess world. It seems people are leaving the chess world behind. They have better things to do.
At least I have Saturday to learn as much as I can. It will just take some time.
The same philosophy of working for 7 years on it (to get to Expert). In order to get things worked out. I want to be a Correspondence International Master. Correspondence is more my speed because you actually get to think about my move. I can set up the position on the board, and analyze it.
More time is all I need.
Meanwhile, I need a mattress, because the old one is worn out. I've had it ever since I moved back to my parents home, which was years ago.I need to save. I have about half of what is needed to get the mattress I want.

That’s my favorite 🎶 will be playing it in my head all day today. Things are not the same anymore. People now these days have different interests. It’s the convenience of the internet and such are much accessible. Mentioning that people are struggling to get by financially and leave hobbies in the back burner.

I'm afraid you are right PinayRN. Magnus Carlsen has been working, and his level increases even though he has the World Champion. The clocks have been stopped as people from Ukraine . I cried when the President of the ICCF stopped the clocks for them. Most are ending up in Poland.

Sadly most of the Ukrainian men, not over 60 are playing real life war games, now probably have no internet access and are just trying to stay alive. We are living the early days of WWIII, maybe Death Cab for Humanity.

I forgot to add that it is not that people have better things to do, they may be caught up in life changing things, keeping their families safe, looking for food and water, getting their families out of the country alive. Chess takes tremendous mental concentration, you are very lucky to be able to do that in todays world. One day chess will move up to the high priority list and you will be ready.
