Well, here we are - the weekend.

This is my first weekend on my new plan and holding strong.

I'll be honest - I love my weekend cocktails - like, really love them - to excess.

However, I realize there is no other greater obstacle to my weight loss success than the booze.

Like some, food is a release from the daily stresses of life.

For me, that is true, but on top of that is the alcohol.

I've been resolute in my abstinence and am OK with that, realizing the damage that stuff really does to my health, attitude, relationships and ability to find true happiness.

I'm on this journey to yes, lose weight, but also to discover the 'fire' inside of me to finally make my life the one that I visualize often. So sad that I have lost so much time - now in my late 50s - to realize such a fundamental truth.

Can I do this?

I think I've already answered that question to myself, there is only one choice.


And in that realization, maybe the healing starts.
