I usually try to post only once a day, but I have to brag. A serious NSV. I went in for my annual physical today, and my doctor is thrilled with me! She described my lipids and other blood work as "gorgeous numbers." She called me "boring, " which is her highest compliment. 😉 She pointed out something I really hadn't thought about, that I've lost 40 pounds in the last 3 years. My blood pressure is down. She did want to know that I'm getting enough protein and taking Vitamin D with the plant based diet, and I assured her I am. Iron, too. I told her I was taking B12 before she could ask. I don't know that I've ever been this healthy in my life! 😁

Stats, please, on what your Cholesterol breakdown was. My diet looks very similar to yours, and I'm currently working on driving lipid numbers down. I have until July before a re-test, but since we eat similarly... I posted my stats yesterday if you'd like a peek.

JustBananas -- need to offer a caveat. Most of my life, I've had freakishly low cholesterol, but it's been going up since menopause. So it wasn't bad, but I didn't like the direction it was going, especially since there's a lot of heart disease in my family. Back in October, I had total cholesterol of 170, LDL 98, VLDL 13, HDL 59, triglycerides 65. At the end of March it was 154 total, LDL 85, VLDL 14, HDL 55, triglycerides 71. I would have liked my HDL to have stayed higher, but I'll take that drop in LDL.

@Wwyo: I am 51 now, right when everything turns upside-down internally. Your numbers are fab -- both before and after -- but I get how you want to improve them or at least tweak them. Most people on FS say their numbers are "fine" but won't share them (because either they never got tested or the numbers are really NOT fine🧐). My diet right now is 85% whole foods, 15% processed (hot sauces, EVOO, vinegars). I'm keeping my sat fat at under 4 grams/day and eating mostly raw fruits & veggies. Exercising more. Hoping for big reductions in LDL & Total from damage caused by cheese, more than likely. So I'm full on vegan at least until the labs come back in July. Thank you for sharing your stats -- they give me hope and a little more drive to work harder 😊💖

@WWyo: You inquired on someone else's journal about a vegetable broth: I make a leek broth about every 2 weeks. Use the dark green leaves of 5-6 leeks, a few carrots, celery & whatever veggie scraps you'd like, boil for 25-30 minutes, strain & discard the solids. Perfect as tea or broth, and no need to add salt since the leeks have a salty-ish taste already.

Thanks for the recipe, JustBananas! I'll give it a go. As for the numbers, yeah I know they weren't bad to begin with, but my LDL had been creeping up to the very top of what this lab says is normal range. I didn't like the direction. Sounds like you are really on top of things with what you're eating and doing, so I'm sure you'll see the progress you want 😊
