Kept calories under 1200 yesterday and will keep them low again today, compensating for two days of caution-to-the-wind eating over the weekend - especially Sunday as we cleaned out leftover stuff from the holidays. Had a long snowy commute to work today, what a mess, took almost 3 hours. The DC area is not equipped to handle cold snowy weather and too many folks have no idea how to drive in it.

I'm loving the Magic Bullet dessert machine my kids got us. Made a frozen concoction of protein powder, almond milk, yogurt, fruit, and some dark chocolate shavings, yielded over 12 ounces of an ice cream like treat but was just over 200 calories and included about 10 grams protein. Once I've used up the stuff I've prepared and frozen I'll do a more concentrated mixture of the protein powder for the next batches. Something to look forward to at the end of the day. You can get one of the machines for $39.95, it's a good deal IMO.

Prior to the holidays I'd started some strength training exercises but haven't done those since before Christmas. I think I'd started too aggressively and strained something in my ribs, that's better now so I'll start back tonight doing them 2 days a week, just not as gung-ho this time. Got to remember I'm not a teenager anymore. Hope everyone has a great day.

I have a generic form but I love my mixer too....I want to get the Ninja one though, it crushes the ice better!

Socolova I have a Ninja blender, love it too. I've been using it to make the protein powder concoction that I freeze and put into the Bullet. Rockiesfan - Luckily I don't have to go into DC, I work in the suburbs, Metro just begins there so it's no help to me. Commuting down from North/Central MD, about 32 miles but lots of traffic and then add snow, it makes a mess.

Wow I used to commute from Colorado Springs to Denver about a 150 mile round trip that I thought was brutal, I can only imagine your commute is worse based on location I have been stuck on the beltway on a Sunday in traffic with no accidents nothing

Rockiesfan, 150 miles is a pretty long commute. My longest was about 100 miles round trip, I live closer than that now to work. But traffic just gets worse here every year and unfortunately I have to travel in the I-270 corridor which is very congested. At least once I get home I'm in the country.
