I've hit a platau, so I'm switching from atkins to a low fat. I'm going to start taking Alli pills which means I'm allowed 15g of fat per meal and a maximum of 48 per day. I'm hoping not to use all my grams of fat tho and try to keep an eye on my calories.

But flossyfee you've done so well on atkins!!! Your graph is amazing, it even made me consider switching to atkins!! One week of staying the same is not such a bad 'plateau' but I guess if ur tired of doing atkins it might be a good idea to try something new... Be careful with the alli pills though I've tried em, u do get the listed side effects if u happen to go over the fat limit per meal Whats ur BMI?

Hi ladyscorpio, I just think I've had my fill of atkins now. I've learned some great things from the atkins diet but I just miss everything I can't have so so much. I will be taking a lot of things that I've learned with me to my new diet. I'm very eager to reach my goal and I can't really afford to platau for too long if I want to lose the weight for my holiday. I know about the unexpected side effects u can get from alli and it scares me! But I think that I'm so afraid of pooping my pants that I will be sure never to exceed my fat limit lol.

I just thought I'd chime in. I read Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution (2002 ed., the last one he actually wrote before the Atkins Company started adding a lot of junk to his diet, like bars and shakes). In his book, he says that a plateau (he calls it a stall) isn't something to worry about unless you go 6 weeks without losing any weight OR inches. Also remember that the diet has 4 phases, and you should try progressing up the rungs and through the phases, adding more variety of foods as you go before you give up. If you're looking at this as a short term, quick weight loss plan, then this WOE probably isn't for you. It's meant to be a way of eating for life. Peronally, I'd rather be able to eat whole, natural foods, and not put chemicals in my body to counteract the fat I eat. Try the Atkin's Diet Bulletin Board for advice and recipes and support before you give up on this way of eating. I'm not trying to lecture anyone, I just know that this diet works if you follow it the way it's written.

Hi kmogirl2000, I agree that it works, that's why I lost 15lbs in 4 weeks, I'm just impatient and want to lose more fast. This is why I'm switching. I live in the uk so we don't have any atkins bars or suppliment drinks. I was doing it the good old fashioned way. For me atkins will never be a long term diet as I don't enjoy meat as much as some people do. For me, atkins is a fantastic way to kick start my weight loss and remind myself that I can take control of my eating. I may return to atkins at some point, but it won't be for life. I agree that alli is a chemical which isn't good for our bodies. However, these days most animals we eat are pumped with steroids and un-natural hormones and antibiotics before we eat them. I have to say I would hardly call this a natural whole food either!

hummm I have to agree with kmogirl2000, you cant give and switch just because you haven't lost for a week, I mean what happens when you get a stall with alli? it's not about diets it's about changing how you eat and how you think about food. Also you didn't gain the weight super fast so your not going to lose it super fast, and unless your willing to commit to actually eating properly and changing your way of life your just going to switching from one diet to the next. you do know once you get to maintenance with atkins you can basically eat the same as everyone else just not as much and it depends on your body and how it reacts to carbs but most people can be eating 100 to like 140g of carbs which is basically a sandwich for lunch and rice with your dinner or even a treat like ice cream and such you just cant eat how you use to, which your trying to do anyway, because it's how you use to eat that got you into trouble anyways. well this is a long post it is no way suppose to sound mean or harsh just don't want to see you give up, because even with alli you will only be losing 1 to 2 pounds a week so it's not going to be any faster then any other way of losing weight. Think about it really hard before you go pumping your body full of gross chemicals. if you eat organic you wont have the problem of all the un-natural hormones and antibiotics being pumped into your meat *Smile* hope all is well and you have a great week.

Hi thinprincess. I did put the weight on quite fast due to the hormones I had to use in my first IVF treatment. Then after my misscariage, I comfort ate a lot. I understand atkins theory, I simply don't want to do it anymore. I want quick weightloss for my holiday, when I return I have to start eating extreemly healthy with lots of fruit and veg before my second cycle of IVF.
