I wish FatSecret was able to determine added sugars v. naturally occurring sugars from fruit, potatoes, etc. I am always alarmed at seeing 50g of sugar by the afternoon when all I’ve eaten today is blueberries, no added sugar yogurt, and a sweet potato with veggies and hummus. 🤔

There is no difference as far as your body is concerned. Sugar is just a carb. https://examine.com/nutrition/difference-between-hfcs-and-sugar/

Biolayne on YouTube. You’ll be fine.

I will agree and politely disagree with Diablo. From a chemical standpoint, yes, there is no difference. But I still think it’s important to differentiate added sugars from naturally occurring sugars due to the nutritional differences in the food itself. An apple is a far cry different than a donut, even though the sugar in each is subject to the same metabolic pathway (however there is data from rats that indicates HFCS can be problematic🤷🏼‍♀️, but who TF knows). I would like to be able to keep track of added vs. naturally occurring sugars just to keep tabs on food quality. That’s my completely unsolicited two cents👍.

The evidence disagrees with Diablo whose knowledge comes from twitter posts by fitness influencers, not in-depth knowledge of science. It's clearly been shown that when you consume food with naturally occuring sugars, you don't overeat the way you want to when you eat processed with added sugars.

*processed food

Don't listen to randos who love and push sugar and pretend they understand science when their knowledge is basically screenshotting social media posts of opinions by fitness influencers who are into bodybuilding.

Except for the site I linked is backed by science. Donuts have a lot of fat and sugar, are calorie dense, and are easily overeaten. That's where the major differences lie, otherwise the sugar in the donuts themselves are treated the same as a sugar and fruit.

It's a crazy cat chicks on here that are the problem, some kind of jealous personal vendetta against me lol

I'm not telling her to exchange fruit for donuts. I'm simply advising how the sugar is processed in the body. If someone were to add sugar to fruit, for example, it would just be extra calories.

Lol you don't understand anything about science, Diablo. It's extremely arrogant of you to think that the impact of foods is only what they're converted to in the bloodstream. You're only showing your ignorance. Until you can read scientific studies and have a scientific educaiton, your proclamations about sugar aren't worth anything.

I'm not jealous of you, I find you pathetic and harmful.

Studies on rats are not accurate to how things work in humans.

That loss and games all based on cars and calories out, You're just flinging insights without bringing anything to the discussion besides your fearmongering.

Cat with a C. I love Kats.

Even your language ("backed by science") shows how ignorant you are on this topic. Any of the thousands of crazy claims about nutrition are "backed by science". Like I said, stick to what you know: shoving donuts down your piehole and acting like narcissist for attention on social media.

There's not point in talking science with morons.

*no point. You don't understand how to read studies. When you can produce your own analysis and interpretation (not just parroting Layne Norton or Aragon), you'll have a voice.

Except this discussion isn't about energy balance or weight loss, it's about someone who clearly doesn't want to consume added sugar and is managing to do it, unlike you.
