I no longer seem to be able to post photos to the app, so I'll just babble this morning. 😉 Yesterday, I stopped at my calorie goal exactly in theory, but I'm sure I recorded incorrectly or failed to record a couple of things. I was having a depressive episode and feeling sorry for myself, so there was a sesame stick binge in there. (That one I DID record properly. ) Today's a better day after a good night's sleep, and so far all I've had is a banana and coffee. I'll eat a real meal eventually, but I'm not really hungry yet. I find when I honor both my hunger, and my lack thereof, I'm able to stick to it but not overeat. After my long trip, I'm a little off my game the last couple of days, but working my way back to it.

Sorry to hear about your episode and glad today is better!:) You always know how to move right along with the master plan. We all have a pause here and there but as long as we don’t stop we are good! Have a great day!

As I'm sure you know occasional blue days are nothing to be concerned about. Most of us have them. I'm a retired critical care R.N. and a former vegetarian and vegetarians/vegans are known to suffer from more depression and anxiety than meat eaters. I have not read a clear causative reason but several hypotheses are mentioned. It may be a chicken and the egg type scenario where vegans are assumed to be more empathetic and more prone to depression before becoming a vegan or the depression is sometimes linked to vitamin/mineral deficiencies or inflammation. I have first hand experience with this as after my parents divorce I became a vegetarian and I later ended up in the hospital with vitamin and mineral deficiencies. I had to take vitamin k shots for years. Back then they didn't know about food combining and about tracking micro-nutrients like we do now. We have the knowledge to eat a lot healthier. Just to be safe I would be sure to get in your B12, Omega 3s, folate and avoid vegetarian/vegan highly processed foods and too much omega 6s. I still love my fruits and veggies, my beans and whole grains but I attempt to balance my micro-nutrients. I am a member of other diet sites which have that detailed option. I hope you are doing that too. Hugs.

That's interesting, Morticia, but I've had the opposite experience. My mental state has improved since going mostly plant-based to the point where I've been able to reduce the dose on one of my psych meds. I'm hoping I'll be able to take it down lower or even discontinue it. I wonder how many vegetarians and vegans who become depressed are eating poorly or not supplementing where needed. I'm faithful about taking B-12, D, and K2. I still eat fish occasionally, and I do take fish oil. I could switch to algae, but it's frighteningly expensive. Yep, I take the occasional bad day in stride. I've had mental health issues all my life and have learned to manage the bobbles 😊

HH -- I think it's more of a trail than a track 😉 Not disastrous to get off it, and easier to meander back on!

Medications have side affects quite often. Maybe you need more fat and protein in your diet.

Like coconut oil or olive oil. Maybe make an exception and eat some salmon.

Maybe try unsweetened dark chocolate, it regulates hormones and is supposed to help w depression.

StormyGirl -- Thanks for your concern 😊 I eat 90% dark chocolate nearly every day, and I do take fish oil and eat fish occasionally. I'm not ridiculously strict, and I think I'm ok on the diet front. 😉 In fact, my mental state has improved greatly since I've gone mostly vegan. I really just had one bad day after a stressful 12-day trip. I knew myself well enough to cut myself some slack on the food front and curl up in the fetal position on the couch until it passed. Which it did 👍

I too wasnt able to post pictures a couple weeks ago but could post on journal. I asked FS for help and their answer was to uninstall app and reinstall it. I did and it fixed it. Didn't lose any info either. 💜

Today is a new day. Sesame sticks are my kryptonite too. Love them.

for me. I try to track it all. may skip a something. but pretty accurate most times. so I always have a general idea don't worry about it.

jengetfit, sesame sticks are tasty little devils indeed. Usually I do ok with them, though. My kryptonite is pretzels. I don't bring those into the house

gloriabrame -- I usually try to track everything as well. I know it will never be 100% accurate, but I try to get as close as I can. I had gone nearly 2 weeks without tracking because I had been traveling, so I had a hiccup or two getting back into it 😉
