Decisions, Decisions

I hope everyone is having a great Valentine's Eve. I know I am. Tonight, I spent time with close friends and indulged in some homemade fudge. I did not eat too much. ;)

One of my friends asked me point blank why I did not go to school for nursing. I have talked about this with my sister recently, but I have never mentioned my idea to my friend. She told me that I would make a great nurse and that I should take the chance. I promised her I would think on this and I will. I am blessed to have family support so that if I want to go back to school, I can. In the end, the decision is mine to make, which is tough. College is so time-consuming! When I graduated last year, I was finished. A life goal achieved. But now, I think that the best way for me to succeed is to get a degree that will make me happy in the long run. Decisions, decisions.

I went back to school in my 40's to train in an entirely different career path, I graduate in May. My only regret is that I didnt do it sooner, I love it. If you want to do it, you will.

Do it if you want it! No regrets ever!

I would advise to do a market study first. You don't want a degree in your drawer while no one is hiring. Although, that would be surprising with nursing.

I went back to school in my late 30's for a different career. Made the jump and have't looked back. If you have a passion for it the go for it.

Yes! I also went back to school when I was in my 40's! I have been in my "second Career' a long time and it was well worth it. Take your time, find a job that puts you in a hospital environment or volunteer....then you will know if nursing is the path for you!

Nursing is a growing profession, but I agree NM. I graduated from college with no jobs available.

Do it!

life is a long path! You have plenty of time to make up your mind. HCB is right volunteer or take care of elders. The compassion comes out or you realize not for you. Try xray tech sonograms, and so on and so forth.

Good advice.. I have a teaching degree. Loved the kids, not the politics and was not good at controlling an unruly class.

There are four nurses in my immediate family and others scattered in the branches. It is very hard work but if that is your dream then go for it!
