Happy Monday FS fam! I had a rough weekend and was so sad that I couldn't get out of bed yesterday.

I know this will sound silly. I seem to have hit a plateau in my climbing and was soo frustrated with no idea how to proceed. I've recently moved into the intermediate climbs and can barely make it off the floor. My ass just hangs on the first holds dangling for life. It sucks. I was considering giving up and went to the gym last night with headphones on to stare at the wall who refuses to be climbed to say goodbye to climbing forever. I was thinking, I'm done; I've peaked; my climbing "career" is over. Now that I write this I realize I was being over dramatic, but I guess when you're in the feels it happens. Lucky for me I met some other women climbers who heard my sadness and pushed me to try to boulder with them and leave my pity party behind. It did lift my spirits to achieve new things. So I did more googling and found a path forward... more core, upper body and finger strengthening training. Fingers crossed this works. I really do love this as a workout rather than doing the usual gym stuff.

Thanks for listening! And for those women who didnt judge my pity party.... you are amazing and love your ability to support other women to push forward!

P$m— I do tough love well. I’ll be happy to help keep you in line. Don’t let things in your life that are suppose to be fun for you effect you in a negative way. If it happens as part of a pattern, is it worth it?

P$M, Thanks for having the courage to post this story of how you are over-coming a challenge. It takes real courage to open yourself up and show insecurities and vulnerability. You are not whining when you are actively seeking solutions, even if you are feeling defeated. It is great that you shared those feelings because it makes those of us who have experienced the same feel less alone

Awesome! Keep up the good work - if I can do it, anyone can do it. I’m down to 159.5 from 240lbs…. Keep strong and keep at it!

I understand what you mean. Hopefully a plateau for a bit means an improvement is right around the corner 🙂 keep it up!

And you ski too. Very cool! Do you go to Mtn Creek, hunter or up north?

@kenna yes my mom did tough love. She’s a Filipino mom and old school so they only do tough love. Funny I was talking about her with my brother recently and remembering how I would call her upset and she would either pray with me or do the tough love. The tough love usually pissed me off and I’d get mad that I even bothered calling but it always worked. I was too mad to stay sad and had that I’ll show you attitude.

@otb yep I ski and am considering trying snowboarding. I go to all those places. Windham had been my go to but with covid they got really strict. I was freezing outside. They wouldn’t let you in the buildings except to pick up stuff and shuffle you right out. I did Hunter last season, Mountain Creek the season before. I go where ever the bus company takes me. I don’t like driving during the winter. My ski abilities are beginner to intermediate and have been since high school. I know I didn’t ski consistently enough back then and now it’s fear of injury. I don’t like going fast anymore.

Nice I grew up a mtn creek kid from middle school through college I practically lived there. I was a ski instructor there for about 5 years and got to ski for free plus get free passes to the rest of the Intrawest resorts. I try and make it up to Killington at least once a year along with a trip or 2 locally but I just don't have the time to ski like I use to. I tried snowboarding once and I was horrible at it.

Once I tried snowboarding, I never skied again! I couldn’t do it now at my weight, but it’s so much fun — I hope you try it!
