It's that time again already: Booster.💉🧑🏻‍⚕️

My last Omicron bivalent shot was early September 2022 to protect me over the holidays in crowded stores and while visiting my brother for Thanksgiving. This latest one will be for a trip I'm going on in 3 weeks. Every instance I've heard of getting Covid appears to happen following a vacation or from getting it from unvaccinated, school-aged infected children.

So like all the other shots, today I'm getting in a big workout just prior to the appointment and pounding the water. Had a mango for breakfast and lunch will be a big Thai cucumber salad (2 seeded cucumbers, shredded carrots, red onion, peanuts, sliced jalapeños, cilantro and a dressing made of rice vinegar with lime juice and a pinch of sugar).

Have a healthy day, Everyone!👁️🏆

I had my last COVID booster shot back in September too. However I caught COVID for the first time in late November so I don't have to worry about a booster yet. I know I will probably get shamed or yelled at but I am seriously thinking about not getting anymore boosters. I will still get my flu shot but I have had nothing but troubles since I got the booster and am taking a Clariten daily. Even had lung and throat scans late October and early November. I have had cancer so thinking it could have been from the radiation but my lungs do show a little more scarring so I know that I can't totally blame it on the booster but I had not had any issues until then. Otherwise I had been following the advice of Mayo and gotten every shot and booster as needed. Good luck because it sounds like you have it figured out with pounding the water!

I hope you escape the covid!

@Redporch: I wish you would re-consider getting another booster, what with your cancer making you high risk. I'm sure that September shot kept you out of the hospital. I think the lung scarring came from you having Covid, as the shots don't contain the virus. I got my flu shot alongside September's booster, so I'm good on that for this year. @Morticia: I'm Ms. Safety when it comes to masking, social distancing and getting regular shots. So far, so good!

Yes, I will still consider everything and talk with my doctors. I see my primary in April and my Mayo doctors in June. I had the lung scarring before I had covid. I actually got my initial scarring from radiation during cancer treatments, but the scarring has gotten worse. I see an ENT next week and will see what they say also.

Vaccine free, caught covid once last year. It was less severe than the flu to me. A lot of dirt is starting to surface on this vaccine also

Redporchlady no shaming from me there's no way I'm getting another covid shot I'm pissed enough as it is got 1. they have caused major life altering complications to my family members

Supergainz & otb that is what I am worried about too. I just feel like I need more information or at least know the consequences. For example I took hormone replacement back in my late 40's and there was a 1 in 8 chance of getting breast cancer. I made that choice based on the facts. I regret it now and just would like to know more of the risks with the vaccine so that I can make a educated decision based on me.

I've had zero complications from all of the vaccines, and have not contracted Covid, so they're working for me. Meanwhile, everyone I've known who got Covid has seen long-term side effects from the virus and has actually gotten it again, thinking that the immunity lasts longer than it does (@Super is the only exception to this). So yeah, everyone should talk to their doctors and make an educated decision, not a FaceBook one.

Out of my group of friends which is 4 lol 2 is vaccine free and 2 has gotten the vaccine. The 2 that has gotten the vaccine has gotten covid over 3x and one is still feeling bad in the lungs. Me n the other caught it once and wasn’t severe. So not just me, although I don’t mind feeling special 😉

But then again me n the other lifts and eats meat, the other 2 are good pant based.... that could be it also? Who knows.... but you hear that the vaccine is causing heart disease in young men. Also causing blood clots and strokes. There’s enough cases where they have to investigate it now. I had an ex that had it and developed a clot in her leg that lasted a month. But yea do your own research, don’t just listen to mainstream media. I feel bad for the people that lost their jobs for refusing the vaccination and now it’s no longer mandated

@Super: I'm vegan and vaxed and never caught it -- I don't think diet has anything to do with it. Being sick with diabetes, heart disease, or obese does, and that's proven, as does being careless and not social distancing. You do have to wait 2 weeks after receiving the vaccine to build up enough immunity before risking going into crowded indoor places or without a mask, which is why people can catch it anyway.

@Super: Also, do your friends that keep getting Covid have children? Kids are always getting sick and bringing home colds, flu, and yes, Covid and spreading it to household members.

I have had 4 covid shots so far and will boost in the future. I am on the road about 50% of the time. I get exposed to a lot of different groups of people and the ten grandchildren. So far haven’t gotten it. Have the vaccinations helped? They haven’t hurt. Maybe I’m just lucky? I think the vaccinations might just help the luck along.

3 of them have children. I’m the only one that finds kids annoying

We are about 50/50 here. We were mask mandated for 1 month. And we were in national news for being named "healthiest county in the entire country". My kids' school only went online for that month and then back to normal the entire pandemic. Our stats on illness are very low and we have had few deaths. I think there are multiple things helping my area. Most are educated (over 60% have bachelor's or higher), they have money and there isn't public transportation. I've also read a study back in early 2021 suggesting that people at higher elevations have less severe symptoms.

@Super: regarding the blood clots -- there are a bunch of things long established that cause them, including getting Covid (but not the vaccine), and it's worth noting that getting the vax does not cure someone of their smoking/obesity-related disease. Here's a list of conditions proven to cause clots (deep-vein thrombosis, or DVT): older age, a family history of DVT, a previous DVT, cancer, certain genes, COVID-19, heart failure, obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease, smoking, spinal cord injury, stroke, untreated varicose veins, and use of birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy. https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/top-causes-of-blood-clots-in-the-legs-and-how-to-avoid-them

RSV/Flu/Covid has hit my area HARD. Hospitals are full and have been since the holidays when everyone shared their germs. I’m masking indoors in public places, don’t have time to get sick. Vaccinated and boosted of course 💪🏻 My husband is a teacher so he’s bringing home alllll the germs

All I’m saying is no one should feel shame or should shame others for not getting the vaccine. The vaccinators isn’t doing their part in stopping covid neither. They still contract and transmit. So it’s your choice if you want it or not.

@Super: I hear you. All I'm saying is that people should stop blaming the vaccine for their ails and illnesses (like the clots), when the most obvious cause is things like smoking, obesity, kidney stones/disease, diabetes, etc.
