Breaking News- Literally.
A couple of weeks ago my wife fell and broke her ankle, while I was on the road of course. Luckily I was only 2 hours away and could get to the E.R. quickly enough.
Finally getting to the ortho on Tuesday.

In our relationship she cooks, I clean. I can NOT stand cooking. She can't stand doing dishes. So the last two weeks has been me learning how to keep us alive. And still eat healthy. No restaurant food. So far I have been alternating Fish and chicken with a stir fry of peppers, mushrooms, onions. I did bake some sweet potato and roasted carrots. Still a lot to learn but getting us fed.

Weight is staying the same. Not logging food. Plateau? My story is I am practicing maintenance a few months early. I ran my first non stop mile in about 12 years. I won't say how slow it was but gotta start somewhere. I am starting to see muscles and my fat percentage has gone from 54% to 29%. Starting to pay more attention to that number than the weight.

I will stop now just felt like rambling a bit.

WOW! That's a lot! Congrats on taking over the cooking! It sounds to me like you are doing a great job with it! Hang in there! It's gonna be a bit before she can help much! (No worries - you got this!) 💪 💯 🌎 🫶 ☘️

Sometimes the goal is just to put together a reasonable meal. Sounds to me like you're doing great on that front! As for running...on the rare occasions I try it, I run like 14 minute miles, so I get it 😂

Holy cow! I'm sure getting down to 29% feels so much better. My wife hates to cook and she hates cleaning as well. lol I don't like cooking but I enjoy eating and if I don't cook, we would be eating pasta every night.

Learning a new skill -- cooking healthy -- is a worthy endeavor, though it does stink that it is out of necessity and not curiosity. I know I would appreciate the effort made to feed me nutritious food while I was in a cast and my exercise tanked. Also excellent to hear you busted out a mile. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Love the upbeat attitude. Already a head of the curve with the percentages vs the lbs. Hang in there. Great work.

I’m sorry for her pain, and the hardship. I hope you have access to a good standard of care, and that she makes a great recovery. I’ll note you seem determined to make the most of the situation and learn some new skills in the kitchen. Good on you. She is lucky to have you in her life, and to have you as a caregiver.

Your wife is lucky to have such a dedicated and determined husband. You deserve a big pat on the back for your determination to tackle the meals for your wife, during her healing and recovery. Keep it up and your will reap the reward of new cooking skills.

Thank you so much for All of the support. I keep wanting to respond to each of you but there just isn’t time :-). Broken ankle is casted but waiting on X-rays of her rib because she fell in the bathroom. Poor girl is having such a hard time. Don’t tell her but I’m enjoying cooking. Every time I shop I am buying one new thing to try and cook. This time around is brussel sprouts. @writing you and I would pace each other evenly on a run, but not on cooking. I’m over here rubbing sticks together and your making yogurt makes a guy feel small lol. @judy positive attitude? I need to show that to my coworkers. I am known as the person that is happy being miserable :-) @tud yeah when she didn’t want to cook I would offer to get restaurant food but now I don’t have to. And by the way the whole flexing your arms thing whole shopping, I tried that but no one could tell the difference. @diana, yeah no home run or single. More like a hit batsmen but I got there @jb yeah I’m ashamed it’s taken me this long to learn how to live on my own two feet without garbage food. But now that I was forced to I’m getting interested. She is laughing her ass off because I was always so stuck in the mud on food. @christian yes we have access to great care luckily. I am not sure I would agree she is lucky to be with me but she thinks so I am out voted? @lacain57 well since you think she is lucky I am definitely outvoted :-) @shirfleur1 yeah we are a great team even in a dysfunctional way :-). Thank you so much for the support. @kenna not sure about plot twists but definitely ankle twists. One parting comment for anyone hanging around this long. OTB does look like he uses filters :-)
