I feel justified in my nightly spoonful of peanut butter: Peanut butter is also a great source of protein, which is essential for building and repairing muscle tissues, Joanna Foley, RD, tells LIVESTRONG.com

you don't have to buy organic. smuckers natural peanut butter is just peanuts and salt on the label.

I count calories and macros and I always have a hard time meeting my daily fat goal. I eat a tablespoon of peanut butter every day as well. I usually have it on celery. 💜💜💜

trader Joe's peanut butter is also just peanuts and salt. they also sell "unsalted" which is just peanuts. the price point on tj is very good.

As honeebuns said, the grocery stores have natural peanut butters like Smuckers, but I've had better luck with the fresh ground from Natural Grocers. I would think most natural foods stores would offer fresh ground. Because natural peanut butter separates, the jarred stuff from the grocery stores take a lot of stirring. The fresh ground hasn't sat as long, so it's less of a hassle to stir. You'll also pay a bit of a premium either way, but you avoid the hydros and sugar or HFCS they use in the regular brands. For us, the higher price is worth it for what I believe is a healthier product

@Sally- I signed up to the Premium version at the end of January. It is $6.99 a month, $19.99 a quarter and $38.99 a year. I did it because I wanted to see some of the recipes and you can build a meal plan with the app based on if you are high protein, keto, intermittent fasting, etc. However it is not very flexible and the app for that part only works on your phone. If you use a computer the meal plan doesn't show up. I do like access to the different recipes because if you cook it you can load it right in your app. I don't know how long I will keep it though unless I really find myself using the recipes. If you use the meal planner you can create a grocery list. I wish it would let you move or change meals though as it plans it and then that is what you get. You don't have to choose to have the meal and then can fill it in yourself. You can also track water if you are interested in that. Again not sure that is worth the extra money.

@Diana- What is your fat goal daily? Mine is 50 when in maintenance and I easily hit that daily especially with my daily tablespoon of Peanut butter. I go over on days that I eat ground beef becasue we buy 1/2 a cow so the ground beef is only 85/15.

@writingwyo - I will have to try the Natural store we have here. I very rarely go in there but may give me a reason to check some things out! Thanks for the tips! I do buy Almond butter from Swiig and I turn the jar over weekly to help with keeping it so you don't have to stir so much.

My macros are set as following: Protein 100-125, carbs 80-100, and fat at 50. That's in maintenance. Im not sure why I have such a hard time reaching fat grams. Sometimes I will look at log and around 1pm I'll be at less than 20 grams/ fat. That's when I'll grab a tablespoon of pb. My nutritionist says I'm lowest when I follow a clean diet and need to include things like olive oil and avocado. I get so focused on trying to reach protein and watch carbs I forget about fat..

@Diana-My maintenance is similar except my carbs are higher. Would she rather you have olive oil or avocado over peanut butter? I did a saliva test once when I was on a diet called Sanford Profile and it said I could swap Fat or carbs easily as my body would handle it. Who know's that was probably a gimmick because there is nothing that works other than hard work and a clean diet!

I just checked my fat grams for today. It's 1230 and my fat grams are 6.79. Yikes! My nutritionist doesn't mind if I have peanut butter. She just tries to give me options. She also suggested I eat full fat salad dressing and nuts. Also cheese but I can only have Parm or feta because of lactose issues. Now I'm going to off to eat some peanut butter..💜

Have you ever tried almond butter? I have it every day. A tablespoon with an apple, or a tablespoon in my Damon light and fit yogurt. It’s so good! And I believe much less sugar than peanut butter.

I’m proud of you for your control because for me, it’s one, two, three scoops of peanut butter with a soup spoon

eat as much peanut butter as you like. the only problem with it is it's a legume so it's a bit high in carbs. but if you eat other much higher fat percentage foods you're alright. I can't really have much as I'm a diabetic. Also, especially, don't get one with added sugar.
