5/25 Fasting blood sugar 6.7 mmol/L

I was a good gal last night...lol. Got a craving around midnight because my sleep patterns are out of whack. But this time I ate the skin off of two chicken thighs. Yes, you read that right. I got the flavour notes from the seasonings I had put on the 4 thighs I had cooked up plus the salt and the grease/fat. It was chewy and it hit the spot. AND, I stayed away from anything junk-ish. What I really need to do is get some more full fat sour cream and dump in a pkg of onion soup mix to make my dip with and have that with my pork rinds.

Checking out my weekly flyers online for any deals. Came across President's Choice offering 4 hot dog or hamburger buns for $4.49. They are gluten free. But, me being me I went and looked at the ingredients after gasping at the carb count for one hot dog bun (37g carb, 6g fiber so 31g net carb).

WTF is cultured sugar?

But yeah, it might be GF but definitely not good for my body with these ingredients:

Water
modified tapioca starch
brown rice flour
cornstarch
potato starch
sugars (dextrose, sugar, cultured sugar)
midoleic sunflower oil or high oleic sunflower oil
psyllium seed husk
yeast
pea fiber
modified cellulose
white vinegar
sea salt
ricebran
cellulose gum

I have my mindset of "even though it says it's gluten-free DOES NOT mean it's good for you"!!!

Oh and the Cultured Sugar? I went and looked it up.

Culture Dextrose (Sugar) is a fermented food product that extends the shelf-life of many common foods, including pasta, sauces, meats, meat alternatives, salad dressings, and much more. As the name might suggest, this product is made from two central components: dextrose and bacteria that create the “culture” of this product.

Yeah...no thanks...I won't be introducing that product to my household - not even to try once.

*Goes back and sips my coffee while looking at more flyers. If I find anything else of interest, I will post it...lol*

I agree with you Heather. Just because these companies are labelling their items "GF" or "Keto" doesn't mean we can trust the product. I read all my labels now. It's amazing how many ingredients are hidden in there!

Always love your insightful comments, information. I’m old school, read labels and stick to basics. Plus I’m too much of a fussy fart and not always a “try-er”. Keep sipping your coffee and perusing the flyers Heather 🙂
