Our little tree out front is covered with wee little apples. I cooked some with shallots and chopped, dried figs, spiced with cardamom, fennel, cinnamon, and fresh ginger. A little sugar (not much) and balsamic to make it sweet-sour. Not a true chutney, but it has that vibe. Looking forward to topping tempeh or roasted tofu with it.

Thanks, all 😊 I had a half cup of it over sweet potato for breakfast, and it was great. I really enjoy a lot of spices and strong flavors. Of course, since it was an experiment, I didn't measure and weigh when I cooked it. So, still wrangling a little with how to record it. 😉 I'll figure out something close enough

Your home must have smelled like heaven. Were the apples tart or sweet? My mom used to do the same thing with sweet potatoes (it's basically a dessert but with mad nutrients 😋).

JB -- these apples seem to be tart, about like a Granny Smith. It did indeed smell heavenly with all those spices. We're way into spices in this house
