So according to something I recently saw posted on another platform; I can have my goal weight *12 in calories. Which for me would mean 2400 calories a day and supposedly be in a caloric deficit. That’s way more than I have been consuming. I set my daily goal at 1500, but I have gone over by up to 200 calories some days. Which leads me to believe that this is why I am still dropping slowly. I was surprised to be down today because yesterday, I took my family out to lunch after church and I had pancakes with my beef tips and eggs.
I really really enjoyed them btw :)

Anyway, I won’t take that suggestions. But it did give me some kind of sense of relief for the times I went over my 1500. Like tonight for dinner, I went over because I used half a cup of cheese on my wraps.

2400 calories is a lot. I'm a typically very active (competitive beach volleyball, pickleball and gym) male. I consume 2200. Less on days that I only go to the gym. 1500-1800 is what I consumed when dropping pounds. I'm in maintenance now. It is always OK to go over a little as long as your activity level is also increased.

Unless you're training for a marathon, I would not be consuming over 2000 kcal. Weight loss intake should be between 1200-1500 for women.

I’ve read goal weight x 10 before which works for me but I am pretty sedentary.

I do 1500-1600, same as when I started. I'd lose faster if I cut back a little since I've lost so much, but I'm not in a hurry, and this way I don't go hungry.

I’ve learned going too low, like 1500 or below, slows metabolism and tells your body you are starving and holds on to fat MORE. Especially if you are working out somewhat. It take around 1400 calories just for minimum body functions. I’d go up to 1700 min. Weight loss will take a tad bit longer, but healthier and not so hungry. In my opinion after listening to various nutritionists for a couple of years. Guess we all have a different approach.

😀 I tend to hover around 1700-1800 per day... sometimes more; but never less. Then again, I am fairly active. I lift but nothing very strenuous. I say do what is slightly out of your comfort zone and sustainable. Listen to your body very carefully, track what you eat, once you're losing and reach a happy place😄 find a caloric range that is 'right' for you. you can do this!

I go over sometimes and am on sometimes and still stay about the same as I do get some exercise.

yes, I too believe that 2400 is too much. I sit at a desk all day for work. I do exercise often by going to the gym. But I don’t believe that that that specific amount of calories would help me lose weight. Although, I will not stress when I go a tad bit over. Over all I have been eating well and haven’t felt hunger. It’s just been when when I indulge that my calories have gone up. Thank you all for your input. I appreciate all of it. :)

For me, 2000 in winter and 1800 in summer if not exercising.

I found a formula somewhere 11 x weight = loss 16 x weight = maintain I just eat my 1500 a day and I'm losing. if I drop below about 1400 the weight loss stops completely.

I will be honest; I don't know what I'm doing. I tried calculating my BMR several times and tried different calculations to figure out how much to eat. I heard years ago similar to what Gigi said; x10 the goal weight. However, I'm doing less than and somehow surprised at my lack of progress.

The one Marie. I would suggest just to increase your veggie intake. Avoid fried foods or processed foods as much as possible. Try to eat more lean protein and avoid sugar. Maybe start weighing and measuring your food so that you can get a real idea of how much calories you consume. If counting calories is too much or stressful do it for a week so that you can gage how to address your eating patterns and habits. Then start some exercise, whatever is fun and doable for you:) That’s how I’m working on myself. But I’m sure everyone else has tips too.
