You caught me trolling a little, OTB 🤣 Although, I have to admit, Death by Oatmeal might make a good band name 🤔

It looks and sounds like it is working for you! I turn my organic whole rolled oats, into granola. Fits into my food plan, mixed in with Greek yogurt.
(Texture & I have a love/hate thing, not a lot thankfully, with certain foods)

well my dad eats oatmeal every day and he's 98... and spins, walks and does weights several times a week. :) he drives too. Oatmeal and sardines are two of his favorite foods

honeebuns - now I'm picturing one of those self-assessment checklists: "Have you ever hidden your oatmeal bowls from family or friends? Gone into debt to support your oatmeal habit? Blacked out after binge eating oatmeal?" 🤣🤣🤣

It was 424 calories with 19.5 grams protein and 17.5 grams fiber. I mix 1/3 cup dry oats and 1 tablespoon each of chia seeds and flax meal together, add 2/3 cup unsweetened soymilk, and stir. Then I walk away for about 15-20 minutes and leave it to soak. No cooking. After 15-20 minutes, it has thickened up and I add whatever fruit and nuts or seeds I want. I usually use hemp seeds or raw pumpkin seeds, as they're high in protein. I don't usually use honey, but I wanted a treat. You could use a different milk, but the other non-dairy milks don't have much protein. Don't skip the chia and flax -- those are both necessary to get it thick enough.

Foody -- yep, it works! So easy, so little cleanup and packs a punch on the fiber front. seekingsanity -- that's awesome! 😁

Thanks, Mick and buenitabishop. Healthy indeed! Although some might disagree. 🤣 Apparently, the dangers of oatmeal is the latest food scare 🙄

What??? What's the danger in oatmeal?

In truth, buenitabishop, there's absolutely nothing wrong with oatmeal 😊 I can't recall what exactly the objections were. Layne Norton did a debunking on his biolayne YouTube channel that was pretty funny. When you look at actual health outcomes in humans, oatmeal is pretty dang good. If you're on a low carb diet it won't fit into your plan, but for the rest of us, it's fine. It's a whole grain with lots of soluble fiber and fits in great with a Mediterranean style diet, or even just following USDA recommendations

I ate oatmeal for breakfast for years to bring down the blood pressure. It worked. Growing up it was the most disgusting and I refused to eat it. Cream of wheat I have always liked. I am now having fruits and veggies for breakfast. My BP has remained low.
