CHOCOLATE CHIPS DID ME IN🥵. I usually buy the dark semi sweet chocolate chips for protein muffins and decided to buy guittard milk choc extra large chips. Then thought might be a good idea to have 1/4 cup as a treat. Then another. Then another. Then half the bag. Clearly i have to continue on the no threatening foods in the house. Dark semi sweet not a threat. Yummy high quality milk chocolate big threat. Crap. When will i fully change?

I love chocolate.

It's remarkable how varied our trigger foods are. Gummies and jelly beans are very low on the pleasure food continuum for me, right above Jolly Ranchers and below circus peanuts. The number one is potato chips, followed by Fritos. Milk chocolate is in the top five, though, and I wouldn't try to eat it in measured amounts at this point. Two Hershey Kisses? Noooooo 😆

Chocolate was once my biggest weaknesses, lately it's fruit...lol. I've read that if you crave chocolate, you might have a magnesium deficiency. 🤷‍♀️ According to my reading, 75% of us don't get enough magnesium. 🤓

It can take a while, YOH, but change does happen! I find when I'm craving milk chocolate, it's more about the sugar than the chocolate. Despite the occasional slips, the longer you're away from your trigger foods, the less enticing they'll be. At least, that was my experience. You've come far -- you've got this 🤗👍

I love chocolate, but it does not trigger a binge, unless it is in ice-cream that will set me off. Most candy I can bypass, but for one. Jellied orange slices, if I open a bag of those things, I must continue till the bag is gone. Thank goodness we don't have an Outdoor World nearby, they have a brand called Uncle Buck's that they sell in two pound bags. I could eat the entire bag!!! I am amazed that I'm not diabetic when I think of all the bags of those I have consumed in my life!!!

I've been allowing myself one small serving of 86% chocolate per day, no binging. And guess what? I haven't lost an ounce for this week. Shucks, I guess I was fooling myself.

Oh, I have those moments too. Just don't do it often and you'll be ok!

I also agree with Zenus, the reason you overindulged on milk chocolate and not dark chocolate is because you could have been deficient in magnesium, which is something dark chocolate has more of. Brazil nuts are also a good source. Sometimes I'll eat the 2 together.

Ladyindenim-you are correct. I could have jelly beans, gummies, candy corn, Oreos for months and not be bothered. Just some things. Chocolate, ice cream, chips. Weird.

Sherrye-hope thats true. So i grew up on meat, carb, starch kind of plates. I loved my moms pot roast and a good T-bone steak and my moms steak casserole. When i was 29 i saw an animal cruelty special and that was the last time i had any four legged protein (except last year when i forced myself to drink bone broth for weight loss and protein but was hard). Funny thing, i had had a t-bone that night and what i saw was so horrifying i never had any desire to consume an animal again. I do think longingly of the things my mom made that were so yummy but nope, no desire to even try again. I wish that is what would happen to my brain with regard to unhealthy food choices for me. Don’t know how to trigger that feeling. Our brains are so powerful. I still think of food often and repetitively in a day. Unbidden. Seems like some kind of a disorder to be like that.
