I am so upset right now. I just can't believe my eyes. I got on the scales and it says I have gained 7 pounds since my last weigh-in which was just 5 days ago!! I don't know how this happened. It's not like I have been over eating or anything. The only possible thing I can think of is that I've gained it cause I just started taking a new medication. Smh I just feel so horrible right now. This is not a good start for me.

There are many, many medications that can cause weight gain. It's not your fault! Don't beat yourself up. Talk to your pharmacist and doctor. You might gain ten pounds and then level out as your body gets used to the medication, or you might just keep gaining, in which case, I'd see if there are other medication options. Good luck!

If it is hot outside and you are drinking a lot of fluids, you can have a water weight gain. I know I retain water and maybe your new meds are causing water retention. 10 pounds is a lot if you are not indulging in junk or overeating. Don't despair, you will lose it. Keep up on your healthy eating. You will get back on track.

Ashley I feel your pain. I stick really well to my daily caloric intake ..and then find I gained 2-3lbs overnight....what the heck! Then a few days later it seems to disappear again. redonculous! Hang in there. Disheartening, I know, but keep at it. I've only been on my quest for 3 weeks, and my weight loss is pitifiully low - only 5lbs so far - but, 5lbs is 5lbs and it's baby steps. I am making better food choices, and I'm away on a business trip which is always hard, but I'm really trying to choose low calorie, healthy choices.

Medications can certainly cause gains. Also, are you tracking your sodium? It's hidden everywhere. Also, when was the last time you had your thyroid checked? A slow thyroid will cause weight gain and many meds will affect the thyroid or interfere with iodide uptake, a vital nutrient for thyroid function. This is especially a problem for females as breast tissue requires as much iodide as the thyroid.

Guys don't weigh yourselves every second day. Besides of medication, there are a ton of other factors that make your weight fluctuate A LOT. 7 pounds in 5 days is like 5700+ kcal surplus per day. Impossible.

I have a lot going on myself, the loss of my job, new meds for this awesome menopausal time of my life, family issues, depression playing a lot on my mind,... the list goes on and on. I suddenly found I had gained 10 lbs in a little over a month, and that surely didn't help. That's why I'm here, have been looking for a great app like this, and the great support that comes with it ツ We've both been slammed by those calorie critters, somehow, someway, but we're here, and we're gonna get through this, hang in there girl ツ

Please do yourself a favor and GOOGLE an article titled, "Why the Scale Lies" so you can learn about all the fluctuations.

It's those little gremlins trying to get you to give up. I have found that my biggest losses sometimes occur when I give it just another couple days, especially if I have been watching what I have eaten. It's the loss over the long haul that counts anyway. I agree with acho, it's impossible for you to have eaten 5700+ calories a day for 5 days.
