OMG, just found out that my daughter forgot to include the paper with the descriptions of the different parts! SMH, I'm gonna kick her butt.

It doesn't stop in 4th grade, I've been busy helping my 8th grader build a catapult for a science completion. Grade to be determined. Better not be no damn 66 though. Nice castle.

I still believe that it is too large of a percentage of the grade for that one emission. I would ask to see the rubric of the project and would request the either bonus assignment for the project or allow for a late submission of the descriptions for a lesser amount of points. Often times teachers are willing to make these kinds of interventions if asked (worked for years in the school system before the children).
Sidenote:
Bubbles, most of the time teachers will send home papers at the beginning of the year encouraging families to work on projects together (I have 3 kiddos myself) While the parents are instructed not to do the projects for the students most projects are considered family-based in nature and most of the involvement is encouraged as it increases academic success and life success and this has been proven through a numerous studies. In fact there are studies show that spending time through quality interactions with family has much higher value than homework and has a better impact on success (income and job retainment) and mental health . Please pardon the haberdashery that is my speech patterns as I'm having a bit of brain fog at the moment. I promise that most of the time I'm a bit more adept in the way that I speak. I just have a hard time getting my thoughts out sometimes.

Honeebuns, you are damn right I was upset with my grade. Lol
It was built to be decent, but not perfect on purpose. However, I did spend 4hrs on it and was not happy with a failing grade.

Leah, I totally agree with you! Plus with the pressures the kids have in an ultra competitive environment with college apps what is now normal--studying all day without outside help as to not be deemed "privileged" is totally developmentally inappropriate, if teens don't have fun as teenagers how can we expect them to have fun as adults..no wonder depression and eating disorders are rampant..
