Food experiment of the morning: portobello mushroom "bacon." It's not bacon, but it's not bad. Taking a long weekend off after a rough couple of weeks. Plan to play in the kitchen a bit. Just brewed tea to start growing a new kombucha scoby

I haven’t had bacon since Oct 28 2022. That was the day I ate the leftovers in my fridge from making shrimp and grits for visiting relatives. This sounds good and something that may be a tasty change to how I prepare mushrooms. Thanks!!

flawedhero -- I thought the seasoning on this was dead-on. I may try using it on tempeh sometime. I have the link in one of my responses to buenitabishop in this thread if you want to try it. Kenna - no, I don't think a couple of slices of bacon in a week are going to kill you. I do have health reasons that make choosing plant protein over animal advisable, but I also have reasons I eat this way that are not about my own personal health

Hope you enjoy it honeebuns! 😃 I honestly don't (and never really did) care much for the texture of meat, but I love the smoky, sweet-salty flavor of bacon, so this is a great alternative for me
