Seeking guidance FS friends,

It suddenly dawned on me that the carpal tunnel surgery is coming up fast (next Saturday). I'm itemising what are parts of my day that involve both hands. Braiding my hair is one, but a neighbour has said she'd do it for me (I was willing to cut it off but at waist length she is in opposition).

Where I'm stuck is the chopping of veggies which I do a lot of. Some would be manageable (lettuce, tomato, mushrooms, cucumber). But how do I manage turnip, carrot, cabbage and cauliflower? These are staples in my fresh salads and the bag o salads that they sell in the stores just aren't ingredient diverse enough. Given that loss of use could be for 2 to 6 weeks or more (given age and the 20+ years I've lived with this) I don't want to derail my way of eating through this recovery period.

So my question is....do any of you know of a machine that can chop for me and if yes are they useable one handed? Suggestions welcomed.

Over and out (again)

In my area they sell bags of chopped single veggies like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, etc. Food processors can slice and chop veggies.

Morticia - do you need use of two hands to use a food processor? I've been looking at some online and at the moment baffled.

Food processor. It's probably time to get one for yourself anyway, because carpal tunnel operation only lasts so long before it gets 'used up' so it's good to change whatever you can, as a permanent thing.

I have no idea what would work one handed other than a mandolin. As long as it has a good non slip base should be able to do the hard veggies in slices on it. Or you could just go for puréed everything and make soup lol. I want to say thank you for your posts. I love reading your updates and your style of writing always gives me a good laugh. The funny in the truth. Love it. Keep going you have done an awesome job so far and are putting the work in to hit the goals you have set. There is hope for the rest of us 😁
