Today was my first weigh in and cheat day! I am pleased that I have lost almost 7 pounds in five days. I feel that my cheat day went rather well. I began with a plan breakfast of black beans and eggs with peppers and onions. For lunch I shared part of a super thin crispy crust pizza with my husband. I also had a few calamari rings and two slices of Italian sausage and green pepper. I also got my chocolate fix with a couple bites of chocolate cake. Five of us went to lunch and shared the dessert. I passed on the cheesecake. I ate the last bit of my pizza for dinner. I really feel like the delay don't deny worked for me. I found myself totally satisfied with what I ate and I don't feel like I over ate in the slightest. I looking forward to returning to the plan tomorrow morning.

I know that yesterday many people disagreed with the fact that I was doing a cheat day. I admit that I took some of these comments very personally and was hurt by some. I even considered stopping FS (though only for a moment). The fact of the matter is, I am on a specific plan - Slow Carb Diet. I am adhering to that plan to the very best of my ability. Though people disagreed with my desicion to "cheat," it is part of the plan and I did it. I appreciate everyone's tips, but I am not going to change my plan after the first week on a whim, or on the advice of a random person, however well intentioned.

As to comments about my personal experiences, and the fact that I have been on here for a couple of years and have gained weight, it should be taken into account that I had a baby this year and gained significantly. It's part of the reason I am here. I do not respond well to harsh criticism, especially from a stranger that I have had no interactions with before. I primarily use FS as a way to monitor my intake. I comment, support, and request buddies that inspire me or I feel are kindred. I write about my feelings and thoughts on this site because I am uncomfortable doing so on other forms of social media. What better place than FS?

Again I am very appreciative of everyone's concern and advice. I really do welcome all comments. I apologize for getting defensive. I know part of support is letting a person know when they are going the wrong way, I just haven't experienced that on this site before.
I want to offer special thanks to everyone who truly cares about me and my progress. I hope to be a support for you as well!

(The first time I posted this it all got erased somehow. I fear this rewrite from memory lacks the eloquence and flow of my original entry. Apologies.)

Cheat days are a good way to stay on plan if one does not go overload. Sounds like you did a great job by the way you handle it all. You are also loosing weight very well. Everyone reacts differently and needs to determine what works best for them. You go girl!

Sorry about the typos. My iPad thinks it knows more about spelling and grammar than I do! "You have to do what's right and what's good for you!"

Amber, we have had a number of people on FS who have used the cheat day WOE very successfully. The three I'm thinking of lost more than 100 pounds each. One of them wrote a book on splurge day dieting. Those particular three were so successful, they ended getting in to coaching weight loss professionally. Your WOE is as valid as any other WOE out there and more valid than some. Stay with it!

I'm so happy for you, that your plan is working for you. Only you can know what to do for yourself and I support you all the way. I'm on LCHF but would like to read the book on Slow Carb Dieting it might be something I could do And get my DH to do with me. He needs to loose weight especially for his health but says LCHF is too restricting. Who wrote the book and where can I get a paper copy?

Thank you for all the comments! It means a lot! ♡ The book is called The 4 Hour Body by Tim Ferriss. I checked out the ebook from my local library, but it is also available for purchase on Amazon and other retailers I am sure. There are also plenty of websites and blogs pertaining to the diet, but most are unofficial. I found the book to be an easy, and even fun, read.

Well said. FS should be a non-judgmental place. I applaud you and your efforts! You have to do what is right for you.

Went and looked up the cheat sheets, book and cook book PDFs. This looks like an extremely healthy diet. I can't have the amount of animal protien called for but if I could, I would seriously consider this one. Good for you!

way to go! Well said. I also look forward to my "cheat" day. it helps me stay focused and on track the rest of the week. I noticed when it comes around those 2 big macs with fries don't seem all that great. The cravings come and go. I am not all about losing the weight all at once, after all it did'nt get there that way.

Lots of people on here work cheat days into their plan. The more you eat healthy foods the less those cheat days will have any junk food. It simply doesn't taste good any longer. Sounds like you still ate pretty healthy.

Hi Amber! I bet you will be just fine! I am sorry if you felt that the F.S. people were being unkind, or perhaps judgmental! Everyone has been kind to me. I only had one person that rubbed me wrong. I just unfriend her. That was that! :) That being said...I wish you well, and happy wt. loss! As a former nurse, I will say... Please stay in touch with your Doctor!:) G.B ~Ann
