Feeling blah lately. Looking back at pictures and journals and really trying to wrap my brain around embracing healthy eating and exercise habits. I know what I need to do, I just can't seem to find the spark to ignite a fire to drive me onto road I need to take. I keep making excuses, and putting off until the next day, then the next. Then I find myself trying to make others my scapegoat! I've actually told myself that I would exercise if my spouse would just help me...how is that fair, since when was my weight his resposibility. I need to buck up and own the fact that I got myself here, and I am the ONLY person that can get myself outta this endless cycle. I know I can do this...

Most people have been there at some point, but don't give up! You actually CAN do it!

I got back from vacation and have had a hard time at the gym. I HAVE gone but I get on the treadmill, get the program going and pretty soon I am saying to myself "maybe I'll just go 30 minutes" or I want to turn down the speed or incline. I haven't been to my classes yet.... Turns out I need more of a motivator than just "good for me". When I started in January I had a June vacation to work towards, then an October vacation. Great motivation but NOW WHAT!?!?!?!? I have that "blah" feeling also....

You CAN do this! You ARE WORTH it! Somedays it is hard to be motivated, just keep moving, even a little. The little steps will add up over time. It can be overwhelming to to do it a at once. Just do one thing per day, then add another in few days Baby steps do add up. We are all here for you!!

Kclab offers sound advice -- start small and build -- don't overwhelm yourself as it becomes easier to say "can't be done" when you do that. I've gone through 'blah' periods, too, but like me you recognize it in yourself (which is an important first step) AND posted here on FS (another important step) and now with the support and encouragement of the FS community you CAN take that LITERAL/PHYSICAL 'first step' and get headed back in the right direction!

Oh yes, you are capable! I agree with the baby steps approach - do ONE thing today to help yourself. I started by walking in my neighborhood for 10 minutes! Drink 6 glasses of water...easy changes will add up!

I think many of us become overweight because of the tendency to disconnect from the urgent need to make a change in our habits. Posting my food on FS helps me keep my focus, but outside of that I find if I think about it too much I just don't DO anything. It helps me to plan it out and do it like it was my JOB. I don't actually plan very far out, I just make sure I have the right foods in the house and then figure out how I'm going to combine them into a meal based on what appeals to me at a mealtime. I also agree with the "start small" advice. I've been at it over two weeks (this round) and haven't added regular exercise yet. "BLAH" is just resistance to what you know you need to do. When I have that feeling, it is related to a measure of depression, hopelessness and feeling "out of control." When you make a decision and act on it, you gain some measure of control. That's where planning comes in, even planning the baby steps. Make a chart or "to-do" list and check off your activity. It will make you feel successful and it's often said that "success breeds success." Just start, and don't worry if you don't do it perfectly every day.

Trust me I know the feeling. Sweetie you can't rely on pure motivation, some days you need to just grind though it. Exercise is key, you can literally eat what you like if you burn enough calories. I don't calorie count and look for increase in strength as opposed to decrease in weight. Its not an endless cycle the minute you take the step at a healthier lifestyle and try again because failure and disappointment comes with the territory. I hope you woke up today and changed things for yourself despite those blah feelings holding you back

Each little change takes what I call getting my mind right about doing something different that I think will help me toward my goal. I don't know how to make that acceptance happen more quickly, but I do know that when It happens then I can move forward. often I think that making my self and doing all I need to to reach my goals is too difficult and then I remember that most of the good things in life take effort and dedication in a degree that requires spending lots of time out of my comfort zones. Here you are. You are so worth whatever effort it will take to progress toward your goals...Good luck on getting your mind right.

I totally understand. I sometimes feel like blah and want to quit. Find something to do that you like, like a spin class or a buddy you might want to work out with you or my personal favorite, watching a movie on my tablet while on the treadmill. Take it one day at time and set daily goals like "today I will walk 5k" or " I will drink 80oz of water". I find that when i set small goals and I succeed I get that instant gratification. Hang it there.

what an awesome idea- I took my ipad with me this morning and watched a couple shows from netflix. the time flew by, I didn't slow down or lower incline, or hold onto handles! so simple but effective!
